Zutphen (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzɵtfə(n)] ( listen)) is a city and municipality located in the province of Gelderland, Netherlands. It lies some 30 km northeast of Arnhem, on the eastern bank of the river IJssel at the point where it is joined by the Berkel. The name Zutphen (first mentioned in the eleventh century) appears to mean 'zuid-veen', or in English, south-fen. In 2005, the municipality of Zutphen was merged with the municipality of Warnsveld, retaining its name. In 2017, the municipality had a population of 47,423.

The Saint Walburgis Church is a historic midpoint of Zutphen. It houses an old chained library consisting of only 'good' books that were deemed appropriate for members of the church. You can climb the tower for a token fee (2017: 2,50 euro's adults; children under 13 only 1 euro) twice a day during the summer months July and August (Thursday + Saturday) and on certain public event days (like; open monument day).

The paintings of Dutch artist Hermanus Berserik (1921-2002) who worked and lived in The Hague and nearby Rijswijk are shown in a large temporary exhibition at Museum MORE Gorssel.I enjoyed the intimate artwork and the documentary film (shown in the upper galery )about the late artist. The range of artwork was impressive; from his earliest work at the Koninklijke Kunstacademie Den Haag to his latest work made just before his death in 2002.

Luxurious sauna resort in a perfect setting, at the lake shore in the middle of the forest.
The hotel is excellent, so refined. Rooms are very comfortable and spacious.
The Wellness resort is breathtaking, many different suana types, many pools and baths, outdoor jacuzi's, just too much to mention.
Restaurant and lunchroom beautiful, all fresh dishes well prepared. Atmosphere relaxing, cozy.
This resort is very reasonably priced and certailnly value for money. A recommendation.

The Gallery is situated in Brummen in the province Gelderland. It is a classic car dealership, in a magnificent manor. The entrance is free of charge. Inside, I was surprised by the rich collection of classic cars and the condition they are in. Most of them have been refurbished, but there are also cars in their original state. The collection consist of many popular classics, like Mercedes SL, Jaguar E-Type and Porsche 911. But there are also unique cars, e.g. some very exclusive Maserati convertibles and Lamborghini sports cars.
On the first floor, there is also a nice lunchroom, with a great view over the surroundings. And the food and service are both very good.

We revisited De Brink during 'non Dickens festival' time and that gives a different perspective. But, not doubt, De Brink is still the place to be when you visit Deventer. Lots of shops, restaurants and a lot of public space to walk and explore. This is definitely not our last 'De Brink'-visit.

Today I went to the castle in hopes of having a peek inside, however that wasn't possible. Open for the public are the watermill, the restaurant and the park.
In the park you have a few options for a short, or longer walk. In the park there is some art available, which makes it nicer, but all in all it is not special and certainly not a MUST see.

We played "voetpool" with two families. This is really fun. Everybody can join, it doesn't matter whether you're good a playing soccer or not. It is outside and you play with balls the size of a soccer ball. The rules are nearly the same as regular pool in the bar.
They also have a nice Terrace to enjoy some drinks afterwards.

This is a very small museum with lots of interesting items and the entrance fee is only 2 Euros. It is in a former jail and is filled with spiral me Dickens and many other British items in an area outside of England. It only takes a few minutes to visit but is worth a quick stop on the interesting Waalstraat. Apparently there is a Dickens dress up festival in town. Even if you don't like Dickens you probably will enjoy this museum.

This is a watermill-powered paper factory. A guide takes you through the entire process, from the raw plant fibers until the final paper product. Visitors can do the last step themselves. This is the only remaining paper factory out of many around here, working in this traditional manner. The place is hard to reach with public transport - it involves quite a walk.
