This museum is quite unexpected, situated behind the huge Church in centre of Souillac it is a collection of automatons & toys. Well laid out you pass through the collection where many of the exhibits are set in motion as you stop to view them. Great for adults and kids, a pleasant hour was spent in there.

This impressive building is architecturally interesting with its numerous cupolas and quaint lauzes roofs. The space is serene and cool, allowing you to ponder. Not over-elaborate, just tranquil and spacious. Tucked away behind the bustle that is Souillac (especially in the very hot months of June to August) there is a long history behind the building and much religious significance.

This distillery has been there for over 100 years and has an interesting display of old distilling equipment. The signature prune/plum brandy is good but so is the walnut liqueur is less potent for those who prefer a slightly milder sweeter taste. The fruit appetitives are also worth a try. Really yummy fruit liqueur chocolates too! The staff have little English but it all works out.

We ride here regularly (weekly with poney club) and have also done stand alone 'summer' rides. All gear is provided if necessary (hats etc) but make sure you go in the day before you want to ride to book so as to ensure they have a spot and time. If the weather is hot enough you may even get to ride your horse into the Dordogne river! It is a great pace at which to experience this beautiful part of France.

Visited the office to get help with finding a restaurant in Souillac, received a very warm welcome from a young man who rescued my poor french accent. We left with lots of information and a booklet in English that helped us enjoy our holiday.Hello, Thanks for you opinion. We are glad to help you for your choice of restaurant. We hope you had a good time. See you soon in the Dordogne Valley.

Christine and her husband are sub-contractors for several different outdoor touring agencies for their Dordogne adventures. We booked through Cyclomundo, but were orientated and managed by Decouverte et Loisirs. First, although we were 3 paying customers, we were only offered 1 itinerary and map. We managed to get 2 more itineraries, ( but not in one of the languages;French, that we had requested), but not additional maps. This meant we had to stick closely together as this was a cycling vacation and maps were crucial, and prevented any independent riding. On top of this, there were several discrepancies between the map and itinerary, and the actually road signage. Fortunately, my husband had his Garmin GPS and had downloaded the daily routings which helped limit somewhat our confusion.
The lodgings were mostly fair, although the rooms at the Hotel du Chateau in Rocamadour, and Le Lascaux, were at least air-conditioned. In Sarlat, the room was beyond tiny, and in Souillac, only OK. I'm not a fan of being forced to eat your meals at the restaurants they choose( half-board) , and then the menu is limited since you are half board, but I knew that when I signed up. My mistake and I won't repeat it. Fortunately, the food was generally very good. One night our party of 3 was split up because one of the hotels had made a mistake and forgotten to reserve a second room, and the last night we were sent to another hotel ( not the one originally booked) where we passed a miserable night in the stifling heat with neither fan nor A/C, nor apology. We had a great week of cycling and the Dordogne is gorgeous, but I would definitely look for another tour operator next time.

Sail across the 3 departments of Correze, Lot and Dordogne thanks to our 14 canoe bases, covering 120km from Argentat to Beynac-et-Cazenac. On your way, you will encounter various landscapes : Castles, cliffs and charming villages. It is as well possible to rent paddle boards, bikes and rafts on some bases. Renting possible for one or several days (except from paddle boards). Please have a look at our website to see the situation of our various bases and obtain more informations.
In the Dordogne, you are faced with a variety of companies selling canoe/kayak experiences on the Dordogne and how do you choose the best company? Well, look no further. We have found this company to be excellent, attentive and thoughtful on all 3 of our Dordogne trips. This trip, we canoed from Vitrac to Beynac, a distance of 15km. The guides were very helpful, health and safety conscious and ensured that you knew how to control the canoe. Life jackets are included and you can rent a container to put items like wallets, keys and cameras in. My husband was suffering from a bad back, and so they found him a special canoe with seat backs! I would advise to take lots of water and sun cream as it can be very hot, but otherwise, take a picnic or at least some money to stop and buy an ice cream. An unmissable experience for all of the family.
