An unexpected and expansive green valley, complete with heather covered hills and roaming sheep. A beautiful nature reserve, perfect for a little hike.

The church is bare bones but the baptismal font is still there. It's where my grandmother's family were baptized, married, and buried. The cemetery stopped burying people about 1900 and most all the stones are still standing from long long ago, unlike most Danish churches, which don't expand the cemetery, but change the stones after about 40 years as new burials require that plot. It's atmospheric inside and out. There was an art installation being set up when I was there about 2005.

Store Blåkilde (Great Blue Spring) is in reality a small pool spring (approximately 80 liters/sec) which is situated in the outskirts of Rold Skov near Arden. It's marked on Google Maps.
You can park at a small rest area on Møldrupvej (there are signs showing the way to the spring) and then walk to the spring. Approximately 100 m after the main road, you'll have to turn right at follow the tracks for about 30 meters. Do not follow the tracks all the way down into a small forest (quite muddy), but keep right until the tracks turn to a footpath with trees on the left and a house further on the the right. After that just follow the signs.
Store Blåkilde is as said, a pool spring, where cold, clear water is running out through fissures in the underlaying chalk. This results in vividly blue areas in the pool, where chalk deposits actually shifted around by the water pressure. If you bring a cup or canister, you can sample the water - it's quite safe to drink.
If the weather is bad or has been bad for a while, be warned that the path - especially the last 300 meters can be quite muddy. Actually you access the spring on a boardwalk part of the way, as it's situated in a bog.
The spring is located on private property and the whole area is a protected area, but the landowner has granted free access, so please act accordingly.
It's not Niagara, but in a small country like Denmark, everything counts.
Absolutely worth the detour from highway E45

The Circus Museum in the village Rold is established in the old winter quarters of Cirkus Miehe by the inn "Rold Gl. Kro" and houses the only preserved wooden circus building in Denmark. The museum gives you an impression of circus as a working place through 200 years. At the Circus museum in Rold, we think that artistry should be for everyone.

Rold StorKro welcomes you on our beautiful Adventure Minigolf course. The course is built as a miniature version of a "real" golf course. There are 18 holes and each hole is of varying difficulties (pairs 3 to 5). You play on artificial grass in beautiful surroundings with the area's plants, and obstacles to high-grass, bunkers, etc. The course is open all days from kl. 9am to 9pm 21.00 (or at sunset). NOTE: The course may be closed during winter periods due to ice or snow. In connection with the course you can buy; icecream, water, beer and coffee ect. The restaurant also offers a selection of lunch or dinner dishes.

Kirken hører under Mariagerfjord kommune.

The museum is not so much special but from historical point of view interesting. The Rebild park is the better attraction of the two. This park founded in 1912 by a group of Danish Americans by purchasing over 80 hectares of heather covered land in the municipality of Rebild DK to create their own place to celebrate every year America’s Independence Day on the 4th of July with their Danish families and fellow immigrants. The estate was later donated to the state of Denmark to become a national park. The American sculpture created the emblem for this park and also made a bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln to be located in the park – see picture. This park is beautifully situated and surrounded with most exciting sceneries. Really worth a visit and a walk for a couple of hours. Adjoined is museum with historical facts on display. Highly recommended.

Fin naturlegeplads.
