The charming village of Horsens is surrounded by tiny isles that are just begging to be explored. Whether you prefer to commune with nature by windsurfing, sailing or just splashing your toes in the shallow water, you'll be enchanted by the blue-gray sea. Kids will go crazy for the annual European Medieval Festival, where young knight and little maidens will be thrilled to get a taste of ye olde Denmark.

I sought this place out because a previous reviewer said it was good for vegetarians. They only did one vegetarian dish... crepe with walnuts and goats cheese... which was very tasty and filling, but not good if you are looking for choices.
The service was prompt and friendly. They do not have a menu in English but the waitress could explain to me what was on offer.
The pancake menu for desert looked very tempting but I was pancaked out after my first course. Next time I might skip the main course and just order a big chocolate pancake instead.

Centrally located in Horsens, Oksen should please most people. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is well prepared. Although red meat dishes dominate the menu, there are other choices too, including salmon and chicken. Soup and salad are included in the price of the main courses and you help yourself to them from a buffet near the entrance. The wine list has a good selection.

Dollys is a authentic Danish Restaurant, at the old commercial port of Horsens. The Restaurant is placed in the Dockers old historic shelter building. The food is classic danish cuisine made from scratch with a lot of quality foods from local producers. Their signature dish is fried pork with parsley sauce; The National dish of Denmark. Also serving a wide range of danish specialities like mussels, home smoked salmon, pickled heering, steaks, fresh fish, celeriac steak (vegan) and traditional danish burger with gravy. Dollys offer a cosy restaurant, Terrace at the old labour, easy parking. Open monday to Saturday both lunch and dinner.
I've traveled to Horsens twice, and both times it's been a highlight to visit Dolly's. I'm a pescatarian, so I haven't tried their famous crispy pork (which everyone does highly recommend), but I loved the three different types of cured herring, especially (and surprisingly!) the one with curry. The Shooting Star plate with an assortment of fish and shrimps was excellent and flavorful, and very fresh - the restaurant is close to the water, and has a nice garden area in which to relax and enjoy a drink, though the interior is charming, with lots of nautical decor.
I can't underscore enough the friendliness, helpfulness, and kindness of the staff - they make the place even more unbelievably charming and homey. If you're not familiar with Denmark (like me), definitely ask for Trine - she's fabulous, sweet, and smart, and she'll take care of you!
Also the brownie with ice cream. Go for the brownie.

Had a nice meal with roast of beef. There was a buffet also, but I didn't use that. Staff was friendly and did a good job

The cafe is located in a small pedestrian street with relaxed atmosphere. Outside Seating is cosy with blankets and patio heaters if it gets chilly. Traditional Danish breakfast, brunch and lunch menu with recommendable food! A small letdown for a bacon lover like myself was when the menu promised crispy bacon but didn't deliver.

As one the first sushi restaurants in Jylland - if not the first? We have been serving freshly made sushi from the best produce and fish available.
We made Reservations as we were attending a show at Horsens Ny Teater, which is situated right across from the restaurant. We booked well in advance, and since we had an early show the restaurant suggested a "chef's surprise" sushi to have the kitchen started in time for our show, not having to wait for us to order. Excellent idea, great service so far.
We arrived and were seated by a not very welcoming staff. We felt that we were somewhat in the way of their working day. The waitress also commented on the fact the we chose to sit next to each other instead of across from each other. Very odd indeed.
We ordered beverages - both just ice water, which set us back 10 Euro. Alright. We received the first dish - not from the waitress, but someone from the kitchen who introduced the food. Very nice tempura, seaweed salat and edamame beans. Nice. So far so got.
The waitress then served the main course, an assortment of sushi "a la chef" without any explanation or comment. Considering that they had chosen for us, we found that rather strange and given the non-welcoming attitude of the waitress we decided not to ask. The sushi was mediocre at best - we have both had way better. Strangely 8 out of the 24 rolls were rolled in nuts (peanut or something). That got a bit old so we left 3 pieces.
I proceeded to settle the bill - 80 Euro. That included a 2 Euro "penalty" for leaving 3 pieces on the plate. No-one had informed us, and we were just tired of eating the same thing.
I would not recommend anyone wasting money in this place.

A refreshing change to the many "me too" sushi places in town. This is a family run place with lovely relaxing interior and good honest service - although it can be a little too slow at times. We take our small kids there and they...MoreDear Englaender. Thank you for your positive respons. No worries, our kitchen staff are also good of making a fuss. :) Hope you see you soon. Best regards, Dini's
