Went to see the tallest windmills in the world and found five of which one was a museum and you could climb up inside to the sixth floor, out on the balcony you had a wonderful view of the city skyline and where the other windmills were

Went at lunchtime on Mothering Sunday and was devastated to find it closed. Ditto the windmill. Either I'd got the opening times wrong or the staff were spending the day on the beach, possibly with their mothers. Anyway, the moral is to make absolutely sure of the opening times before you come.

Located very close to the Boymans van Beuningen museum, it is well worth a visit if you are interested in architecture or interior design. The house was designed for one of the directors of the van Nelle factory, his wife and 2 daughters. It is set up as a grand villa, with bedrooms for 2 maids, a studio for the 2 daughters to study, and several large and interconnected rooms. Although the architects did not design the furniture, they did decide upon the furniture that was to be used in the house. Most of that furniture is still present, the original or a replica. Build in 1933, the house is full of technological novelties. Make sure to aks for the free audio guide, as you will see much more as well as hear the reasoning behind several colours.

The place in itself is a classical building. When you enter it feels welcome. The Exhibitions we visited (Ik hou van Holland and Herman de Vries) show the experimental choice the museum makes. If you are looking for that type of exhibition the museum is worth a visit. When you look for more classical exhibtions you have to be elsewhere.

"Winkelcentrum Spaland" (Shopping Center Spaland) is a covered shopping center in the north part of Schiedam. Attractive is the almost unlimited possibility for free parking with two parking lots (one lot at the other side of the tram track) and a covered car park. If you need something then there is a good chance that you can find the right shop in "Spaland". Apart from two large supermarkets (one full price supermarket and one budget supermarket), most Dutch retail chains are represented here and a number of specialty shops; I want to highlight bakery "Ammerlaan", selling high quality bread and other tempting bakery products. "Winkelcentrum Spaland" is not the largest local shopping center in the Rotterdam area but one of the best.

One of the nicest zoos I have ever visited. It houses a very wide gamut of species from all over the world. The Oceanium offers a spectacular underwater view due to its glass tunnel. The park is well laid out without any really 'caged' animals. Furthermore it is clean, well maintained and easy to reach by public transport and by car.

A typical example of those impressive Dutch medieval churches, large and built in brick with a roof resembling a ship upside down. Its location is attractive in the historic city center with small scale houses and it still has its small churchyard charden. It makes you wonder how towns like these which were quite small in the 13th century could afford to build such big churches. The interior is not extremely rich by comparison but still nice to visit.
