We spend a night in the park area (Rocky harbor) and drove through it the next day. We should have allocated more time for this wonderful place.

Filled with renditions of popular Newfoundland and Labrador songs and tunes, sprinkled with one-liners and wit and occasional display of culture, this group of five has become one of the most widely-attended acts in the whole province. Almost by accident, and practically overnight, the ANCHORS AWEIGH band has found its way onto the list of "things-to-do" for local residents and visitors alike.
After Reading rave reviews on this site, I put my name on the wait list with hopes of getting into this show. It is VERY HARD to get tickets unless you are with a tour group, as tickets are reserved for them. We were SO HAPPY we lucked out and managed to get a seat.
The show is performed in the Anchor Pub and it was PACKED! Bar service is VERY SLOW as they are VERY BUSY.
The show itself is three hours long with a ten-minute intermission. It is a very lively show with WONDERFUL Newfoundland Folk Songs and Irish music mixed in with a lot comedy skits. There is a small dance floor for those who can't control their feet and feel the need to get up and do a jig or two.
The show is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, so if you find yourself in the area, call WAY IN ADVANCE to get your name on the list.

Join us on any or all of our four amazing boat tours with live commentary, and experience the beauty of Gros Morne National Park. Each of these tours has it’s own unique offering. Cruise the two connected fjords of scenic Bonne Bay on our Bonne Bay boat tour, witness the inland fjord of Western Brook Pond on our Western Brook Pond boat tour, examine the marine life on our Bonne Bay Discovery boat tour, or relax and enjoy the sunset on our Bonne Bay evening cruise complete with local entertainment and refreshments.
Our tour group booked the Bonne Bay 2 ½ hour boat ride for us. The route is up and down the fjord to see the villages on the coast, any wildlife in the trees (a couple of eagles), dramatic rock formations, and a different perspective of the Tablelands. The boat has 2 levels for passengers – an uncovered top deck with bench style Seating and a covered interior area with movable chairs. We picked up the boat ride at their dock at the Marine Station near Norris Point and got dropped off, as requested, at Woody Point so we could continue our bus ride to see the Discovery Center and the Tablelands. The commentary could be easily heard on the top deck where I sat for the whole cruise. There was little jumping up from the seat to the railings to take pictures. The commentator, the lead singer for Anchors Aweigh, was an excellent commentator during the boat ride. He entertained us with his witticisms, insights into island life, and recollections of the resettlement times when we passed a cleared off patch of land in an isolated coastal spot.
This tour included a “Screech In” Ceremony done by the crew, the Anchors Aweigh singing group. The ceremony was done in the covered Seating area at the end of the boat ride and involved audience participation. It was all good fun especially when the life-like rubber cod fish came out that had to be kissed and a jig to be danced. I think Reg should have pulled out an ugly stick for another audience participant to accompany his accordion playing. Everyone got some whiskey to toast the newly screeched in participants and a certificate that could be framed. The Anchors Aweigh trio sang a few parting songs from their CD (on sale in the boat) which included typical joyous Newfie ballads like “Jack Was Every Inch a Sailor/Ise the B'y”. What a treat!
Weather was sunny, water was calm, not too windy - a good day to be on the water. Kayakers thought so too. Refreshments were for sale on the boat; a mug of hot chocolate with rum ($6) sounded good for those needing to be warmed up.

The Glass Station Studio and Gallery is situated on the ocean in Gros Morne National Park. Workshops and classes in kiln-formed glass, painting, and spinning will be offered at the studio; meet the artist and take home a piece of locally made art or fine craft.
This gallery was quite interesting. The owner and self-taught glass artist, Urve Manuel, is warm and welcoming. Her creations include wonderful glass jewelry, bowls, sculptures and designs inspired by local themes such as icebergs, caribou, cod, owls and Newfoundland pine. The colors in the glass...MoreThank you very much for your wonderful review.

Get a close-up view of Newfoundland's Wildlife! Museum includes life-size animals in realistic scenes: Moose, Polar Bear, Puffins, Caribou, Lynx, Coyote, Fox, Black Bears, Fish, Birds, and many more! Boutique includes antler carvings, taxidermy items, fur and seal-skin products, fishing and camping supplies, and much more!
While waiting for the dryer cycle to complete at the local laundromat next door, we wandered into this little establishment and spent a pleasant, informative, half hour. Animals ranging from moose and caribou to mink and otter, fish, and birds, all excellent examples of the taxidermist's art, each identified on placards and organized in dioramas by theme. Worth the $6 admission. Local crafts store in the same building.

Our Craft shop opened in 1971 and has been selling Quality Handmade Newfoundland crafts for over 45 years. When my parents started this business, they were the only craft shop on the Northern Peninsula and were one of the first in Newfoundland. Throughout the years we have developed many different clientele which supply us with a wide variety of crafts, allowing us to have the biggest and best selections of Quality handmade Newfoundland products in Gros Morne National Park. We hope that you will drop by and see for yourself the many unique items, made by local Newfoundlanders.
Loved this craft store. It has a bit of everything:) any newfoundland product you are looking for, I'm sure you can get here. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The also told us few areas we had to check out with our kids, which turned out to be beautiful Beaches that the kids and us adults loved.

If you are an experienced hiker and want to explore this route the top provides some stunning views as well as the obligatory picture by the summit sign.
If you're not an experienced hiker, if you are the average joe- PLEASE TRUST THE SIGNS WHEN THEY SAY THAT THIS WALK IS GRUELLING. The hike up is VERY steep and the path is basically a rock slide. Taking pictures and stopping for breaks will cause this hike to last from morning until late evening. The hike up can have you on your hands for some parts, navigating.
The top of the mountain makes you feel as if you've defeated the monster. The walk across the top is relatively easy with boardwalks here and there. As you climb down stairs you suddenly find that the "trail" is an old moose path at best with broken ground and mud holes. It is by far more challenging than the climb up because the path seems incredibly neglected.

Didn't have a meal here, but they do offer vegetarian Chile and soups. Also, food in jars like moose parts. Typical tourist souvenirs, not as much local crafts and art. Some jewelry like Labradorite, but many commercially produced things, not made in Newfoundland. Bought funny picture bear boxers

Imagine riding your bike through a world heritage listed site, through some of the most remarkable terrain and scenery that you will ever see. Challenge yourself with the trails and routes that our experienced guides have available to all riding abilities through the Gros Morne National park. We also have quality rental bikes available.
Let's start with the disclaimer: THIS RIDE IS HARD. My boyfriend and I are have pretty good physical fitness, and I bike around 100km per week on average. But we spent a lot of this ride pushing our bikes up and down hills. A couple of the hills are so steep that I suspect Olympic mountain bikers would struggle at least a bit. The day was very foggy, so the descents were treacherous, hence the walking down hills.
But all that being said, it was an amazing day. Tim was really enthusiastic, helping us with tips on how to stay on our bikes, as well as challenging us to push further. We got to see a part of Newfoundland which very few people experience and we will never forget it!
