The pretty seaside town of Pucisca on the Croatian island of Brac has a high school which also teaches stonemason skills. The white stone on this island has been used since Roman times and was even used at the White House in America.
Every year two classes of 25 students are accepted to do either a three or four year stonemason course in addition to their normal secondary education. There is even a student hostel. We were able to look around the two workshops and were most impressed with the work of students.

Had great holiday with walking leaders Angela and Vic Blundell. Footsteps in Croatia. Did not have t think about anything. They organized transport to and from walks. So informative with history of country. And really put their energy into making the group of 14 holiday enjoyable. Thankyou. Highly recommended.

Lovrečina cove is situated on the northern part of the island of Brač, between Postira and Pučišće, known for its large sandy beach and precious archaeological sites. The remains of the St. Lawrence basilica from the 5th and 6th century can be found in Lovrečina and local pilgrims from the surrounding places visit it on the feast day of St. Lawrence, August 10. You can reach the cove by boat and by car.
We have spent a nice afternoon at the beach. There is a simple restaurant, with a full drinks menu bar directly at the beach. Large parking (20kn) is also available, just the street is a little steaper and one way only.Dear, thank you for your kind review! We hope to see you again :)

We called the winery if we could come that day, and they were really flexible with the time of our arrival. Last minute, two friends wanted to join and this was no problem. When we arrived we could choose where we wanted to sit, all...MoreHello Irini and thank you for sharing your impressions. We appreciate all the positive feedback and hope we will meet again in the future for another wine tasting. Cheers!

We are a family of three (11yr old son) from Finland with plenty of prior boating experience but first time in Croatia. We contacted Blue Emotion late friday evening to ask for rental for saturday. Zlatko, who answered was very friendly and helpfull and whilst they were potentially booked for the boat we wanted he reverted in 20 min and we managed to get the boat. On saturday morning we received good instructions on the boat and tips on where to go and general tips on boating in Croatia. We also got a cooler and tube for the enjoyment of our son.
The evening return time was flexible which was good. We were greeted by Zlatko and two of his brother in laws and were given a lift to our apartment pier.
Friendly service, family business, good boats and extras as needed. Highly recommend.

My husband & I visited this museum during a bus tour of the Island of Brac and found it quite interesting. It has sculptures, urns and other artifacts dating from ancient times, when Greek and Roman settlements occupied the island. It also has objects from more recent centuries, showing the way of life of the people who lived here.

On my first day on Brac island, I was looking for a good place to watch the sunset and wandered by the mausoleum. I didn't go in, but was impressed with the structure. I realized it was a cemetery of some sort, but had to go back and read about it to find out what it was.

This is not a church that will make you ooh and aah. Rather, it will make you go "huh?" Coming in from the blindingly white buildings outside, it is rather dark inside this small, unpretentious church. Unfortunately, it looks like it was decorated by committee. The pale blue and white ceiling looks like Wedgwood, there is a startlingly beautiful chandelier from Italy that looks like it should be in a fancy hotel, and there are some historic crypts in the floor. It is very small (as is the town of Pucisca) and is certainly cool in the broiling sun.
