A Saturday brunch based on two fine specials at €14 each, a glass of wine and a craft beer. Really good and distinct flavours. The piccalilli to absolutely die for. So much so we bought two take-away portions in the deli. Nice little place.

Thai cuisine, local style. That's local Thai not dumbed down Western style. Our great food, service and local beers and wines are waiting for you. Looking forward to seeing you.
Have eaten here at least a dozen times over last few years. Sad to say last few trips -not worth it . A few years ago it was hands down best food in Athlone and very 'thai' . It now seems ... like a fast food joint . Even the Deserts ...are gone tasteless . What happened? .... we are just not bothered to even try any more ...

Very relaxed Dining area, with down to earth staff, Had a pizza because why not, it is Italian at the end of the day, Pizza ingredients were fresh and colorful, Cheeses on the pizza were to die for, Great music in the background as well which adds to the clean dining area they have, definitely one of the nicest Italian restaurants in the midlands!

From the decor, the ambiance, the staff and the food - this was truly a great surprise. Very reasonable prices, really friendly staff and really good food that's a little out of the ordinary. An excellent experience and I look forward to returning sometime in the future.

At The Fatted Calf Restaurant, our Mission is to source and forage the best of local, Irish artisan produce, which we cook and serve on seasonal menus to our customers. All of our wines come from small, family producers from Wines Direct, Liberty Wines and Tindal Wines, our grass fed dry aged beef is supplied by John Stone Fine Foods.
We ate here on a short break to Athlone in early January, and it was the highlight of our visit. The food was divine. We were here midweek so could take advantage of the set dinner menu, however the price of the normal menu is very good considering the quality of the food. The black pudding starter in particular was amazing. Service was excellent too. We will definitely be back.

Welcome to Hatter's Lane Bistro at Strand Street on Athlone's Leinster shore. Ideally located 3 minutes from the Town Bridge, Radisson, Prince of Wales and Sheraton hotels. The Hollywood themed bistro offers a welcoming cosy atmosphere with open fire, check table clothes, walls adorned with movie star icons. The background music is easy listening typically featuring tunes from Sinatra, Martin, Bennett and the likes... Running in tandem with Gertie Browne's old world award winning pub, Hatters Lane offers the customer a unique and satisfying dining experience and hopefully will continue to serve great food well for years to come...
Our meal here was a treat from start to finish. The atmosphere is so convivial and pleasant, no big empty room. All tables were taken, so that gave the place a real buzz. I love the decor with the frames of the movie stars and all the beautiful wood. Our meal was excellent. The service is top. Friendly staff, helpful but not intrusive. We had the prawns pil pil and chicken wings and both are really good. The bread is a star of the house, no question. For main, we had the hake and the orange and chilli beef. The hake was flaky and served with a beautiful array of greens. The beef was mellow and soft and flavoured beautisfully. The lemon curd desert was fresh and zingy and a great way to round off the meal. We loved every bit of this meal. With a half bottle of wine and pint thrown in, the value was very good too. Cannot wait to be back.

After an afternoon of shopping we were ready for a bite to eat and a glass of wine. A bottle of chianti (13.95 Euro, I think) i had a few starters calbrese salad, garlic prawns and what was described as frocassia but got garlic bread with cheese and some rosemary on it, but I have to say it was lovely. My sister had a mixed salad with the most amazing dressing on it and pasta with toasted almonds and pesto. I had a little taste and it was truly fantastic. When I visit Athlone again I will get back
