Lucknow (/ˈlʌknaʊ/ ( listen) Lakhna'ū) is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and is also the administrative headquarters of the eponymous District and Division. It is the eleventh most populous city and the twelfth most populous urban agglomeration of India. Lucknow has always been known as a multicultural city that flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub, and the seat of power of Nawabs in the 18th and 19th centuries. It continues to be an important centre of governance, administration, education, commerce, aerospace, finance, pharmaceuticals, technology, design, culture, tourism, music and poetry.

If you are a lover of history and of exquisite architecture, then you must visit the Constantia House located inside the La Martiere Campus. The campus itself is beautiful with sprawling grounds and very well behaved children. The Constantia House is a wonderful monument to the French influence that shaped a part of India. Meant to be the house of Major-General Claude Martin, this house records the aesthetic side of India's colonial past. It is worth spending some time in. If you are looking for more touristy places, then you can safely give it a miss.

The park is one of the largest parks in India and development is still going on.
What's Good.......The park is stunning with beautiful landscapes and artificial lakes with gondola ride facilities.
There is a cycling track, but you have to bring the bicycles.
The park has open gym and rubber track for running.
There are numerous shelters to avoid direct sunlight and rains.
The park is 5 kms away from the center of the city.
There is a huge tricolor flag.
A MIG aeroplane and tanks are on display at the entrance.
A good spot for picnic.
No cafeteria or food available inside the park, it's better to have packaged food.
Avoid in sunny afternoon during summers.

A visit to Lucknow is incomplete without experiencing the hustle and bustle of Hazratganj. Hazratganj is what Lucknow used to be two to three centuries ago but its getting choked with modernization, civil work, traffic congestion, population and most importantly POLLUTION. Best place to shop in Lucknow and also for enjoying the genuine traditional cuisine provided you can find a parking or you are OK to breath in the pollution around (both Air and Noise).

I had visited Chowk way back in 1976 and obviously after 40+ years, things had completely changed. Its now a very crowded place with chaotic Traffic pouring in from all directions, unmanageable crowd, deafening noise of honking and roaring engines of vehicles and not to miss the pollution all around. This is definitely not the Chowk that I had in my memories. There are hundreds of Chikan shops here - the famous dress material of Lucknow. Arohi Complex in Chowk has maximum number of Shops. Chowk also boasts of traditional eateries of Lucknow. Here you can get best of the Kulfis, Makhan Malai (A must try) and mouth watering non veg preparations.

Fav spot of my daughter, been here number of times. Lots of animals, birds, fishes, but best is free flight aviary with storks and other beautiful birds. This place also has a huge museum with paintings, sculptures from different times of past. Also has a toy train. One will need 4-5 hrs to do justice to this place. Only negative point is too many visitors.

Not very far from Bada Imambada is located Chhota Imambada. Unlike Bada Imambada, here you need to deal with two sets of Guides. One who would tell you about history of Chhota Imambada and the "Shahi Hamam" (Royal Bath) inside the same campus and another set of attendants inside the Imambadas. For some reason, the first set of Guides are not allowed inside Chhota Imambada. You actually don't require a guide inside the Imambada because its comparatively a very small structure. Its beautifully decorated inside with Chandeliers from all over the European countries. There are few Graves inside and these belong to the Nawab's family members. The Shahi Hamam is quite an attractive place but poorly kept. Just an advise - start your journey from Bada Imambada and buy composite Tickets for all attractions that includes Chhota Imambada and Museum as well. Its only Rs. 50/- per person. An extra Rs. 5/- is charged for Still Cameras.
