Divided in two - the old city and the new city; The city offers different moods right from the hustle-bustle of C.G. Road in the heart of Ahmedabad to the quite retreat of of the Sabarmati Ashram. Ahmedabad enjoys a thriving cultural tradition, being the centre of Gujarati cultural activities and diverse traditions of different ethnic and religious communities. 'Agashiye' in Gujarati means on the Terrace. This beautiful restaurant is spread over two huge terraces are inter-connected by a smaller one that houses a small wooden cottage. At Agashiye, the food is freshly prepared, a lot of it in the Terrace kitchen where you can see it. Our attempt is to retain the distinct flavours of the ingredients and we use both spices and oil sparingly. The menu at Agashiye changes daily and varies seasonally too, so an item that you particularly liked during a previous visit may not be there on the menu. Though we hope you'd find another favourite! The staff at Agashiye comprises mostly of men from neighboring villages. During dinner, they will guide you to the waiting area where you will be served juice and starters. You will be informed when your table is ready. During lunch, you are seated at your table right away. The food is served in a kansa thali immediately on being seated at the table. The meal starts with a choice of Indian breads and ends with rice. Servings are unlimited. The staff has been instructed not to constantly hover around you and yet be attentive. In case you have a specific requirement, a supervisor will be there to assist you. Please don't be surprised if you are served a non-Gujarati dish or hear non-Indian music at Agashiye. It is neither an ethnic nor a theme restaurant. It is meant to be a dining experience in a contemporary Gujarati home.Agashiye can be booked for parties of up to 400 people with a buffet setting.
Will start with food first. Quality and taste totally Comparable to home made food. Best place to take NRIs and foreigners for authentic Gujarati food. It’s walls speaks about its ancient city’s heritage history.Dear Thank you for your feedback, it is important for us. We are glad that you enjoyed our food and the heritage. Warm Regards Gareema Gautam General Manager - The House of MG

The Green House cafe is located under a covered pavilion on the ground floor of the building. It serves freshly cooked Indian snacks, fresh fruit juices and home-made ice-creams. The open kitchen in one corner of the courtyard, our food theatre, is where you will see cooks preparing your meal in front of your eyes. The Green House cafe extends into an arched air-conditioned room that was earlier the 'buggy room' of the mansion - horse drawn buggies were in use till the early forties. On the menu you will find a variety of Indian snacks ranging from chaat, batakavada, patra and panaki to small meals of delicious Indian breads and vegetables. Most items are available as takeaways. The restaurant is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
Average Gujarati good at a great location. There are random rules at the place which are really bothersome.
First they won't handout the menus when waiting for the tables
Second, after we ordered food they won't give us containers to pack left overs. The random rule, we don't pack for on weekends!!!
Qualitywise good was 3 out of 5

As someone who frequently brings people to India, trying street food as a foreigner can be a bit problematic. Enter Swati Snacks! Fantastic food, with a variety of Gujarati and Maharashtran street food treats to sample safely and with gusto! Certainly not as cheap as actual street food, but absolutely affordable and worth it. Best with a larger group to try more dishes, but even if you're a small group, order at least 1-2 dishes per person. You'll be happy you did! Haven't yet tasted a dish I wouldn't order again from this restaurant.

I have been visiting this restaurant since more than 35 years.. though from a d is still good and authentic but this time I noticed that they have introduced some Marwari dishes in their authentic Gujarati Thali !!
Folk dances were also not as given is as earlier.. in fact, it’s worst now..
This was a real delight earlier with traditional Gujarati folk dances..
It seems that they’ve got some cheap Rajasthani folk dancers.. just avoid wasting time here..
It looks like they have just started to compromise quality !!
However, ambience is still great ( as they haven’t changed this )..
Services are still good..
Price is reasonable considering the food items and quality..in fact, they should charge more instead of sacrificing quality..
Staff at reception is not at all friendly..
It seems they’ve started taking customers for granted..

It is one of the mostly recommended place for authentic Gujerathi Food in Ahmedabad. The Ambience is excellent. It is centrally located. The waiters are well dressed ,mannered. The preperations are truly Gujerathi (No Hybrid) traditional.. Their Thalis have so many items and it is difficult to choose. Very much Impressed as all this at amoderate price. Visit

An all day dining restaurant offering an expansive buffet and a la carte menu featuring local and International favorites.
This restaurant offers a great variety of choices from local Indian favorites, to fruits, breads, cereals etc. They also have a full omelette station for make to order egg requests. There was excellent service, and always someone asking if there was anything they could provide. They also have a great lunch menu. Their pizzas were terrific.
