This place is known as final resting place of Gautam Buddha, built to commemorate the nirvana and allow visitors and followers to relive Buddha era. Very peaceful and calm atmosphere. Also very well maintained. Outside the main temple, you can see the ruins of hundreds of years old walls and courtyard, along with well maintained lawn and lot of space to relax and meditate.

As per the historians, Budhdha spent his last days in this part of the world. It has a huge stupa and it is said to have remains of Budhdha. It's a simple place and surely soulful. Inside the temple, there is a Budhdha statue.

The first thing to note about this temple is that it is a Burmese temple and not Japanese. There is a camp right next to the temple where many Burmese live. I would be too critical to say that the architecture could have been better but by any standards this is indeed quite appealing. All seven days are represented on the different sides of the temple and the outer ring is lined with wooden sculptures of many Buddhist monks. The temple isn't quite old and was established in 1990s. There is some explanation about the temple and its significance but for those who want to know about the significance, there are no local guides or Reading material to understand the Buddhist culture for the non-Buddhist visitor.

About 1.5 km away from Mahaparinirvana Temple, this large Stupa rises to a height of 49 ft. It marks the site where the Lord Buddha was cremated. In ancient Buddhist texts, this Stupa has been referred to as ‘Mukut-Bandhan Vihar’. There is a sheet of water, called Ramabhar Jhil or pond, close to it, which dries up in summer.

There is situated a 3 m high statue which have been built of a single stone. The statue at the temple depicts Lord Buddha in a Bhumi Sparsh Mudra. It also shows Buddha sitting under the Bodhi Tree, which symbolically represents ‘the Enlightenment of Buddha'.The statue also bears an inscription that is largely illegible, but surely indicates the date of its construction to 10th or 11th century. It is also believed that the Buddha delivered his last sermon at this place.this is a archaeological site maintained by ASI
