Southwest of Seville, Jerez is a well-heeled place. It’s the home of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and its famous dancing horses; if you’re on a budget or can’t be there for a formal performance, it’s worth dropping in to catch a morning training session. The other major reason to visit Jerez is to sample its most famous product—sherry. You can do this at a number of bodegas associated with the world’s best-known brands, including Bodegas Tio Pepe, The House of Sandeman, Jerez, and Pedro Domecq. They’ll soon have you knowing your amontillado from your oloroso. There’s also an Alcázar, dating back to the time of the Almohads, which features a small mosque, now the chapel of Santa María Real.

Welcome to our family-owned bodega, devoted to recovering the history of one of the world´s best known wine regions, famous from time immemorial for its fine wines. Over a decade ago we decided to "row upstream" and place our confidence in creating a unique red wine in a region dominated by white grapes. After an excellent premiere by our signature brands Garum, Samaruco and PetitVerdot, we´ve gone on to set ourselves new challenges. We have already developed a wine aged underwater in amphoras and have also made wines with ancient, regional varieties that had neared extinction, such as Tintilla and Palomino negro. Together with this, our first Jerez wine with natural alcohol content is already ageing in American Oak casks.
Visiting Jerez for Catas Magistrales in the Alcazar learned about this winery and the new concept on red wines, the experience was unique; marvelous views, the vines museum so interesting, professionalism at the top with the guide and tasting of unique red wines in the region, delightful paring, thanks Virginia for your warm welcome and guidance.

Discover the incomparable beauty of the Palacio del Virrey Laserna (Viceroy Laserna Palace), luxury and splendour of old times located in the heart of the historical centre of Jerez de la Frontera. Its property has been trasnmitted from fathers to sons since the Repartimiento (Distribution) of Alfonso X the Wise in the 13th century
The Palacio is indescribably beautiful. It is a must see while in Jerez. The private tour was given by the current resident and member of the family, who shared the history of each beautiful piece of decor and family treasure. Everything within is stunning, and the art collection is jaw-dropping. It’s impossible to adequately describe the beauty and history within this palace. The Gardens, the tile, the wood, intricate features of the architecture within and without - exquisite. Note: this is not an outing I would recommend for families with children. It’s even possible small children are prohited, but since I was alone it’s not something that I asked about. There are so many priceless items on display in this home that I can’t imagine it to be appropriate for young children. This is really something that adults would enjoy.

Private art gallery well known artists, Goyas, Velaquez to name a few.Quality Sherries V.O.S and V.O.R.S
Tradicion is special in the sense that it only produces aged sherries that have benefited from long years in the solera system. Daniel agreed to provide a tour for us at a particularly inconvenient time for them as the entire bodega was being readied for the advent Zambomba festival and for a family celebration. Nevertheless, Daniel was ready to devote two hours of his time to showing us around, explaining the process and taking us through the stunning art-collection. Of course there was a tasting too. It was expertly managed and the wines were marvellous. For me the palo cortado was the most interesting, but all that we tasted stood out from the other less distinguished, younger wines we tasted elsewhere. The bodega itself is beautiful and is situated in the quieter Santiago barrio of town. I would recommend anyone interested in wine and Spanish culture to be in touch with Tradicion well in advance of their trip to Jerez - just to make sure that they don't miss out. Thankyou Daniel for an interesting and informative tour. A highlight of our visit.

Interesting architecture, good for €2 per person and no one is suggesting you make a donation. Lovely spot for a hot day to cool off but quite cold in March! Only open in the morning but no booking required.

Don't miss it. If you haven't seen one before you will be hooked and search them out for the future. Fascinating and great explanation and demonstration. I think it is free on Monday afternoons but it's not expensive anyway.

We came off the motorway at the Jerez de la Frontera junction and the Charterhouse is between the motorway and the town. It stands on its own. Both the Renaissance gateway and the Gothic and Baroque church facade were beautifully lit in the early evening sun. We were the only people there. The church was closed. We had just seen many of the Francisco de Zurbaran paintings from here in the Museum of Cadiz.

This museum demonstrates the long history of the area, from the Stone Age through the Roman Empire and the Moorish period. Fascinating collection of artifacts.

We came to Jerez on a day trip from Cadiz and we didn't even know this place existed. Really worth a visit - very atmospheric with some lovely Moorish touches and you also get some great views from one of its vantage points. If you only do one thing in Cadiz make it this!

Beautiful sherry winery, with plenty tasting options, with or without food. Their wines are extremely good and special. Juan Mateos de Arizon's tour and welcoming is superb.
We enjoyed this tour and learned some new facts about the sherry making process. The sherry tasting at the end was informative and helped me to understand the different varieties. Note this tour is only of the barrel storage, no vineyard, crushing, bottling, etc so not the best winemaking tour we have been on but still worthwhile.
