The Arataki Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, with more than 16,000 hectares of native rainforest and coastline. It's 250km of walking and tramping tracks provide access to Beaches, breathtaking views, and spectacular rocky outcrops, including the Hillary Trail, black sand Beaches, Waterfalls and giant kauri trees. The Park Rangers here will help you make the most of your visit. They know the latest track and weather conditions and the directions to the best places in the Park. If you are staying in the Park overnight, ask for the best camping & campervan sites.
Loved this visitor center and the nature trails at it's location! The views were amazing with well maintained trails. The staff inside the center go above and beyond to answer any questions you might have. Make the effort to get to this beautiful site!

Auckland's Sky Tower is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, this tower is more than 300 metres high. Offering stunning views, along with award winning restaurants, a gift shop and an opportunity to push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above Auckland's CBD.
The Sky Tower was a great experience. The lifts were readily available and quick. The glass panel in the floor was a good touch. The views from the viewing platforms were superb. They keep you informed when and if there is anyboby going to do the jump. We were fortunate and got a couple of great shots of someone in mid air. Noit overly expensive and well worth a visit.

Originally I lived 5 mins from Henderson Square, But the family still drove the distance to New Lynn . Always had better shops.
Less of a criminal element hanging around
I mean we are west Auckland
I did a comparison only yesterday, the shops in new Lynn are cheaper than Henderson
Lynn mall perfect for me

Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery is West Auckland's regional gallery. We present a diverse programme of contemporary Exhibitions, events and activities, including art, craft and design, to reflect and strengthen the full diversity of cultural identities, interests and potential of our community. As a destination gallery, Te Uru operates from an award-winning, purpose-built building that is part of the recently re-opened Lopdell Precinct. The gallery first opened in 1986 as the Waitemata City Arts and Cultural centre, later known as Lopdell House Gallery, sited in the historic Lopdell House building in the heart of Titirangi, gateway to the Waitakere rain forest and en route to Auckland's famous west coast Beaches. From 2012, during an extensive redevelopment programme, the gallery delivered Exhibitions and outreach style programmes from a temporary base in nearby New Lynn. We reopened as Te Uru on Saturday 1 November 2014 in our new building alongside Lopdell House. Te Uru receives core operational funding from Auckland Council through the Waitakere Ranges Local Board.
Over many years I have attended Lopdell House for wining, dining and art opportunities. Recently, using the services of a local business saw me head for the heights of the House and have an oops by dropping my car key down the lift shaft - a trick for young players without big bunches of keys to their name!
Lopdell House shift manager Jolie immediately called for technical assistance and told me she had it under control and to go on and attend my appointment. I did, and with no reponse time available I wandered Titirangi Village until Jolie called telling me to come get my key. She had Kiwi Ingenuity moment and used a long stick and a blob of blu tack and pulled my key from the depths!
Can't commend this woman Jolie enough, she was happy to take me home and in the end solved my problem. Lopdell House you are very lucky to have such a wonderful employee. As well as a great range of great services on site. The place is clean and well maintained as well.

We visited CraftWorld enroute to Muriwai; it's an easy 20-30 minute drive from downtown Auckland and worth a visit if you are looking for locally made and unique gifts (not run of the mill China made stuff). Offerings include soft toys, apparel, accessories, stationery and...MoreWe appreciate your feedback. You're right, the drive isn't so bad and the products you'll find at CraftWorld definitely make it worth it.

We had just arrived in Auckland from the US that morning so were feeling a bit fatigued by late afternoon. However, Sharon picked us up at our hotel in a posh Land Rover and took us out to the west beach area of Piha for such an enjoyable evening. She was a delight to talk with on our drive and rearranged our dinner to be at a private home overlooking the beach so we wouldn't have to deal with the crowds and noise of a restaurant. We stopped at the beach and my husband and I got out for a walk around Lion's Rock and had a chance to enjoy the beach and watch the surfers for a while. Then we went to the home on the hillside for a chef prepared dinner and wine. Our table was set in front of a plate glass window overlooking the water and we enjoyed delicious food, wine and a gorgeous sunset. After dinner Sharon drove us back to our hotel capping off a perfect first night in lovely New Zealand!

This scenic drive takes you past bush scenery, to observation points for spectacular views and to gorgeous Beaches.
Beautiful ranges; we drove through these ranges during our road trip. It was an amazing experience. There are also good breakfast joints on the way with amazing views. Do make a pit stop for a good English breakfast with awesome view.
View of clouds touching hills is simply mind blowing. A must do road trip; recommended highly by me

My husband and I had a Sunday lunch at the Artisan Restaurant recently. The service was fantastic and the food very enjoyable. The generous portions were probably the only justification for the $30 main courses - which were very tasty, but in no way fine dining. Location/setting is lovely. We also did a wine tasting and purchased some wine - again, excellent service.
