Taken straight to our table. Seated upstairs where there was a 13th birthday party. Waiter couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a table we were happy with.
Only had a starter and main. Fantastic food and service. Staff couldn’t do enough for you - especially as it was a busy Friday evening. Top marks. Staff a credit to the chain.
Only slight moan was the state of the toilet - pet hate of mine. May be due to it being a Friday evening. Gents seem to have a tendency to miss the urinals it seems....
Still a 5/5 rating as not the staff’s fault men can’t aim.

Last minute on a Saturday night we received a call to say our earlier booking somewhere else was cancelled due to kitchen problems. Having such late notice we were very lucky to find the Plough could fit us in.
We had main course each and a dessert. I opted for fish and asked for some changes to the original menu offering. The waitress listened and asked the chef if he could adapt and it was done no problem. Nice to be accommodated in a friendly and helpful manner no complaints.
The fish was delicious absolutely melted in my mouth. Side salad and veg also very good. A really nice ‘clean’ and fresh meal. My husband opted for steak and he enjoyed his too.
Dessert was an indulgent cheesecake in a glass. Really yummy and a generous portion.
I can’t complain about anything at the Plough. It’s a lovely restaurant and I am sure we will enjoy many more meals there in the future.

We only intended to have a coffee which by the way is the smoothest and best in Brentwood. However they have just started a new menu which includes Tapas style. We had 3 for £10 and weren't disappointed. The Chorizo and potato bravado was great. The Olives were superb and my wife loved the Tempura Prawns. I thoroughly recommend this "old fashioned pub". Next time we will try the Paella and Lamb Shank.

I have always been passing by this place when going to and from work and wondering how the food is there. I was a bit sceptic given that the restaurant is right next to a petrol station in the middle of nowhere so didn’t expect a lot. However, when I saw the portions and how good the food of other customers looked like when we walked in, I was nicely surprised. And this soup! Oh, the best noodle soup ever and I’m very hard to please. Just the smell of it was amazing and its taste was like a heaven to me. I will definitely go back (ordering the same thing) and would recommend it to everyone!!!

This place is temporarily closed.
Warm welcome by the team
Good selection of pre-dinner drinks
Very nice background music with gentlemen on grand piano
Shown to a nice round table for four
Good selection of breads and again another warm welcome
Menu superb
With great selection of starters and Entree
I personally had the scallops which were cooked perfectly and seasoned well
I then had the beef
Perfectly cooked with a great taste accompanied by seasonal vegetables and a lovely glass of a very intriguing Malbec which would be very comfortable in any up market restaurant and at a very affordable price
No Deserts for us as very comfortably fed but the selection was very good when offered
I did participate in a very good liqueur coffee and was very happy to both tip well and say a big thank you for a great evening
Well done “Masons”
Go enjoy everyone

Their address and all their details are on their website
What a special evening, this place is a real treat.
The service and food is outstanding (the homemade pasta is exceptional).
Nothing at all was too much trouble. We did not look at the menu, just asked the chef to give us advice (reminded me of my travels with locals in Italy).
Wine is a passion of the chef and would certainly suggest following his guidance.
A real pleasure!

We had Sunday lunch for a party of eight - eating 8 different dishes which were all well cooked and well presented. The portion sizes for the Sunday roasts were large and probably the best value. There is a good traditional pub atmosphere at this...MoreThanks for a great review! Look forward to seeing you again soon, the coffee Machine will be up and running before we know but we apologise! Enjoy some fantastic Italian food in relaxing surroundings. Tarantino Restaurant in Brentwood is located in the heart of Crown Street just off the High Street. Here you will find a warm welcome in this authentic Italian restaurant with casual and relaxed surroundings to enjoy your dining. Tarantino Restaurant attracts a wide variety of diners with its fantastic menu. You will be spoilt for choice with mouthwatering Italian dishes from freshly prepared pizza to finest scotch fillet steak. Don’t forget our daily specials of fresh fish and meat. We always rely on Tarantino’s for a brilliant meal, whether it’s just my boyfriend and I or we bring our friends and family. The food is always amazing and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I especially recommend the mushrooms to start and the tagliatelle salsicce. The restaurant has a lot of charisma and a lovely atmosphere also. We most recently visited for a meal at Christmas and had another great time.

With everything you would expect from a traditional pub, the menu is full of classic traditional English food with a modern twist. All accompanied with fine wines and a good selection of beers. Open every day food is served from midday until late into the evening including a traditional Sunday Roast. A warm welcome is a guaranteed with the natural log burners always on but also from the friendly management and staff. The pub is in two sections with a dedicated dining area and a comfortable bar area. During the warmer weather the outside turns itself into an alfresco dinning experience including a covered non-smoking area. With ample parking the Rose is not just a local but the perfect destination venue.
Hadn’t been here since it was taken over and refurbished some years ago. There is no doubt the refurbishment has improved the quality and feel of the place, whilst at the same time keeping the character of the old wooden beamed interior the same. It’s a lot brighter with the beams being stripped back to bare wood and a brighter colour on the walls.
We had agreed to meet friends here for dinner so a table for four was booked on their website. Being as there was still snow around we opted to arrive twenty minutes early. Understandably the table wasn’t ready so we were invited to the bar side for an early drink. It was 5:40 and we were lucky to get a drinking table as it was already busy. It was nice to see the tables being highly polished and clean on the bar side. With this said, our drink table still had glasses and bottles from previous customers which were not cleared and remained that way until our dining table was ready at 6:00.
The table was nicely set and the staff were friendly and attentive from the very start. I liked the menu as there was a wide selection of meals to choose from. We were all quite hungry so opted to skip starters and ordered straight from the mains. Two of us chose the Homemade Pie of the Day which was chicken, bacon and mushroom, a fantastic choice as it was absolutely delicious with large chunks of chicken in a rich creamy sauce. Our friends both chose the Thai Green King Prawn Curry which they also enjoyed. For dessert we opted for The Rose Cheesecake, with our friends ordering the Rose Cheeseboard, all of which was well presented and delicious.
Due to the low number of tables in the dining area each table does have a time limit, after which you’ll be politely asked to vacate to the drinking side of the pub. The amount of time you can dine depends on the amount of diners at your table. For us it was three hours which went quite quickly. The only downside to moving is not knowing if you’ll be able to find another table on the bar side. We were fortunate to find one, but a group who vacated their dining table after us ended up having to stand. During the summer this obviously isn’t an issue as there are lots of benches outside.
As lovely as the place is, I think for an evening out we would prefer Masons as the tables are much further apart and it’s much easier to talk, plus we wouldn’t encounter the time limit on the table. We have already agreed to return to The Rose, although for lunch rather than dinner
