Uganda Crater Lakes Tours provides the best walking tours to crater lakes and local villages around Fort Portal.
Noah is such a friendly person - super knowledgeable about the area as this is where he grew up. He is flexible and able to craft the perfect hike based on your preference- we did the combo crater/Muhamba falls. Noah is responsive and reliable - and just really fun to hang out with.
Don't worry - the falls look a bit muddy - but the experience is amazing. So worth it! Enjoy your time with Uganda Crater Lakes Tours getting to know a very special part of a beautiful country.

Do the Chimpanzee habituation not the short trip. I got to spend all day with the chimps and it was special watching and listening to them. My only complaint is in the afternoon they take to many people on the short hikes and you can tell it upsets the chimps and some rangers. Lots of monkey's and baboons.

The caves are lovely and cool after the walk. I could see the breasts of humans and animals in the in the stalagtites. The legends associated with the caves are reminiscent of the underworld of Roman mythology. Or maybe Roman mythology is reminiscent of these legends. Our guide was very enthusiastic story teller.
Wear clothes /shoes that you can bend and squat and climb in. I did not and found the climb slippery.
I took a group of college students from the US, who enjoyed the caves and the photos that they took.

Lake Nkuruba Nature Reserve is well known as the best place to photograph colobus monkeys in Uganda. The dense tropical forest is home to four species of monkeys including vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black & white colobus and the endangered Uganda red colobus. Guests are almost guaranteed to see monkeys during their visit!
We passed in this reserve but we did non stop even if we saw differences between this region and other places along the road to Fort portal, most of all for deforestation (here is still all natural and it seems still a good place for people who like ). But even the road and looking around could be a good experience.

Being frequent cyclists at home we looked for a fun activity at Fort Portal. Reading that it was possible to explore the surroundings by mountainbike we were quickly convinced this was a good idea. The tour consisted of a visit to the local villages, tombs, waterfall and arambe caves, lunch and a nice hike to some crater lakes. All this was connected by a 20km ride. The latter was our main interest for booking this tour. The route was challenging and fun, but the bikes were horrible. Gears not working, breaks pretty bad, tire pressure low and in the end the pedal of my bike even broke down. The guides did their best to make the day enjoyable despite the bikes breaking down multiple times. We even had to waste time at a mechanic while they tried to make the bikes work. In the end the nice activities were overshadowed by the poor quality of rental bikes which left us with a bad feeling overall. The manager just laughed away all problems when we tried to give feedback about the subject.

We would like to encourage visitors to the beautiful Fort Portal area to pay a visit to the team of Fort Green Tours as we found them particularly responsive and enthusiastic in helping us plan our various visits of the area.Nothing was ever a problem for Hellen, Robert, Michael and Jonathan and they understood exactly what we were looking for in terms of experiences and lodgings on excursions. We never felt that we were just being taken on a tour, it was always a personal experience and we learned so much from Jonathan and Robert who acted as guide and driver for us.We arrived as clients and left as friends. Please drop by and visit them when in the area.
