This art gallery/souvenir shop has a large variety of offerings. There are the usual trinkets (although better quality) as well as paintings and other interesting items. Well worth a stop.

Most probably the most important building in Malawi, the missionary church in Blantyre where it all began... Built without a plan, still standing today and very impressive I would suggest a tour of the church an the surrounding missionary complex!

The Society of Malawi Library and Archive is housed on the first floor of Mandala House, a National Monument. It boasts a wide collection of books, journals, photographs about Africa in general with a special interest to Malawi. The library focuses on maintaining the history and heritage of Malawi.Below the library is a national art gallery which features artworks of great artists in Malawi.
Mandala House is home to the Society's Library. Here it is possible to go back centuries to the beginning of written history of Malawi. My sister liked it so much that she went back later and spent a full day there, talking with the docents/staff members.

The Responsible Safari Company is the best choice to get off the beaten track in Malawi. We provide both half day tours around Lilongwe and Blantyre and multi-day tours all around Malawi. RSC is about real travel experiences and authentic adventures in Malawi.
We planned our ten days in Malawi through Dom and his team. Our full trip included an onward journey to Zambia, planned through another group, and a return to Malawi before flying home. Dom's advice and arrangements were outstanding—and he generously included informational material on Zambia in addition to the extensive information he provided on Malawi. My husband does a huge amount of background research before our trips, and Dom and his team were patient and forthcoming with regard to the myriad questions that were raised. Our driver, Boniface, was enthusiastic, pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient with our quirky interests—including our drive out to the countryside to purchase a pregnant goat that we then delivered to a small village in Zomba. Virtually everything on this trip went off without a hitch! Thanks, Dom.

The Way of the Cross is a beautiful place, obviously designed and made with love. My friends and I are not Christians but we were touched by the atmosphere. The walk is not too hard and rewards you with beautiful views from beginning to end. The path is easy to follow once you are on it.
To find the road up to the starting point, look out for the bright yellow signs on the road after St James Chilomoni.

Nyasa Adventures are a specialist tour operator that offers Day Trips from Blantyre. We also offer tailor made tours across Malawi.
At the end of June/beginning of July 2017 my husband and I visited our daughter and son-in-law who were living in Blantyre. Also in our party were my son-in-law's parents and sister. Our experiences during the two weeks we spent in Malawi included Safaris in beautiful game parks, adventures on Lake Malawi, hiking and camping in an eco-resort, and visits to historic sites. The accommodations ranged from luxurious to very comfortable and the food was always outstanding - especially the chambo (the fish native to Lake Malawi). Our driver, Ken, attended to our every need and was great company as well. If your are looking for an agency to arrange a vacation that provides an authentic Malawian experience, I highly recommend NYASA Adventures.

We offer exceptional spa services and the trained hands of our experts pamper your body, soothe your mind and re-energize your soul. Our spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing.
I have visited several times as it's one of the most professional salons with modern, clean decor of a standard you would expect in any country. I can recommend massage, as long as you don't mind a male, manicure and pedicure. Previous person mentioned high prices but they are comparable to salons of a similar (or lower) standard so I think it is good value. To improve it they should play music (as they did during the massage) to create a more relaxed atmosphere as every time I have been I have been the only customer and so it would help to create some background noise!
