Bekonscot Model Village

Bekonscot Model Village and Railway is the world’s oldest original model village. Set in Beaconsfield, just outside of London we are a popular day attraction for people of all ages.It was opened in 1929 and it’s a great place to bring the family and stomp around like giants! There are six model towns, a huge Gauge 1 model garden railway, ride-on railway, remote-controlled boats, Castles, lakes and industries in 1.5 acres of award-winning Gardens. It's a great family day out, and it's your chance to be a giant in a miniature land of adventure, hidden away in a 1930s timewarp. It’s a big day out full of really nice small things and we'd love to see you soon!

Went to this lovely model village yesterday on Mothering Sunday.Arrived just after 10 and parked in the car park near it.So much to see, worth going round twice incase you miss something. The details are amazing.Various moving models too as well as small trains chugging round and a bigger one to ride on.We should have gone on the train when we got there as long queues later on.Clean ,but small cafe, good for a break.
We so enjoyed our trip, and so did our children and grandchildren.Took pictures to remind us all of our trip

I received a voucher from my son for Christmas 2016. I booked for early June 2017 but unfortunately it was for the day after the terrible attack at London Bridge which caused a no-fly zone over London. I arranged to rebook for August and spoke to someone who said they were the MD, followed by a confirmation email.
I turned up on the date, a perfect clear and sunny flying day, and was told I was not booked on. No apology, no nothing just left waiting in my car for ages while they tried to sort it out but when I reapproached to find out what was going the girl on the desk then said could not get hold of the office and just told me to ring in on the Monday.
The long story short I had to make numerous phone calls and get Buyagift involved. I was told the 'MD' after sending my confirmation had decided to take me back off the flight but not send an email to ask me to rebook. As you can imagine I was quite concerned about this happening again. Did finally do the flight at the end of October it was OK, I had read the bumpf in advance, others were very cross that it did not go very far into London.
I was offered a free photo (whoopee do - I am a middle aged woman not a child!) as compensation which is pretty piss poor to cover the two lots of petrol I needed to get to the airfield, the numerous phone calls I had to make, not to mention the waste of a day attending in the first instance.
DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY - THE SHODDIEST CUSTOMER SERVICE - A SINCERE APOLOGY GOES A LONG WAY.

Highly recommend, what a lovely place!

There is a reason why the price is good. Booked a full body massage and after emailing and calling the booking company (adventure 001) several times I couldn’t get through to make my booking. I eventually got through and was told I would have to wait 5 months for my booking due to a recent fire on site. When I asked why his wasn’t highlighted when I made my booking they couldn’t give me an answer...but then went on to tell me how they were very busy due to Xmas vouchers being used. Which is fine, but let people know the time frames when they book. Can’t give a refund so I’m stuck with a booking in May when I purchased in December. Have been here before and the treatments are actually quite good just very poorly managed.

Jordans and the Mayflower Barn

Reviewed By Richard2UK - High Wycombe, UK

Jordans, and its neighbouring hamlet Seer Green, are quiet, sleepy villages set deep in the beautiful, wooded Buckinghamshire countryside, about twenty miles West of London. On Jordan's southern edge, about 300 yards from the village centre, lies a small quaker meeting house; an adjacent cemetery; and, at the top of the cemetery, an old timbered barn.
The meeting house was built in 1688, shortly after King James II issued the declaration of indulgence, allowing quakers to build meeting houses and worship openly. The building, recently restored after a serious fire in 2005, is a fine example (one of the oldest such meeting houses in the UK) and well worth visiting. In the graveyard, visitors will find, if they look carefully, the final resting place and headstone of William Penn, who founded the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which later became the modern state of the same name. If you walk up a gentle hill through the cemetery - a beautiful, quiet, simple place of green grass, shading trees, and weathered headstones - you will come to the Mayflower Barn. This building, dating from 1624, was constructed by Thomas Russell, a local farmer, using timbers from a ship called the "Mayflower", which he purchased from a breaker's yard in Rotherhithe. In 1924, a historian concuded that this was the same Mayflower that carried the Pilgrim Fathers to the USA. The barn is now part of a hotel and conference centre, but visitors can enter it. You can also have meals and drinks in the hotel.
As attractions, these are very low-key, but for those with an interest in history, especially of the USA, a visit is well worthwhile. Allow one hour to one hour and a half.

We did not know this small cemetery existed. Tucked away amongst the houses down this lane. 30 minutes of Reading headstones and acknowledging the past lives of those that lived in Beaconsfield. Only comment is that the some older graves have been overtaken by trees (pushing the headstones out of the ground). Suspect there is a reason. Very serene place- thank you

I recently returned from a business trip in London and on the final day had a few hours to see some sights before I headed to Heathrow. Mark and Luke manage an excellent car service with Ultimate Chauffeurs so I knew I would be well cared for on the private, escorted tour. I was NOT disappointed.
I was picked up in a luxury sedan at my hotel by my personal driver Ravi and my expert London City guide. It was quickly explained to me that to be an "official guide" in London, one needs to obtain Badges from the Institute of Guiding. There are several badges in the city of London a guiding expert can achieve and Mark Rowland has 2. The testing a guide must go through to achieve these badges is quite rigorous and requires a terrific amount of studying. As we went thru the day, it was evident that Mark knew his history, details, and secrets many Londoners don't know. I learned so much on my tour.
So, we did some of the typical favorites all tourists like to see; like Westminster, St. Paul's Cathedral and Buckingham Palace. Everyone wants their picture at Westminster or trying to make a Royal Guard smile, but I found the best part of this escorted tour wasn't what the typical tourist could do on their own.
The value of this tour is having the personal driver whiz through the city, making it POSSIBLE to see all these high interest places so quickly and has the car waiting for you as you walk through the sights. The other value of this tour is the guide's undisputable knowledge and experience. Did you know there are Roman ruins buried right beneath a popular City location? I never did and I've been to London 15+ times. The heart of the City has so many nooks and crannies with such amazing history and Mark knew so much about literature, architecture, religion, and cinema. We visited the Diagon Alley of "Harry Potter" fame and the Temple Church from the "Da Vinci Code".
Even better, at one of the stops I had a nice Latte waiting for me from Ravi! Perfect. I finished my tour made my flight and had some great pictures and now I know so much more about London. I look forward to returning and sharing this little secret with friends.
If you want a truly personal experience that can be customized to fit your interest be it law, religion, cinema, history, architecture or ancient civilizations, the Luxury Tours of Britain would be highly recommended. Maybe I'll do a Literary City Pub tour next time?
Some small pointers:
This is a luxury car service with elements of walking combined. If you are not accustomed to walking mid range distances (sometimes on cobbled streets) let them know. Wear good shoes! I wore boots with heels. Not the best. In winter, you may need to bundle up but the car is warm and they will stop for tea :) Also, do give the tour a good 4 hours if you want to see things quickly. A full 8 hours to go into all the sights and do it properly.
They do excursions outside London so if you had something else in mind, ask. These are all customized.

I joined a small group for a half day tapas course and was constantly entertained by the food and the vivacious Vanessa. We made 5 courses and each one took me by surprise. They were recipes of a Michelin star chef mind you, and it was evident in the creativity and precision in the processes. I would recommend any standard of cook to venture into this kitchen and don't eat before you visit! Nick

The enthusiasm and passion of the chefs was obvious as well as the attention to detail to include everyone, keep it friendly yet also very simple.
We learnt lots, met lots of different people, had great fun and cooked lovely food.
