An award winning dining destination in the centre of beautiful old Amersham, the Artichoke restaurant has been tipped for the top by critics, chefs (including Raymond Blanc) and, rather impressively, the Michelin Guide 2011. The traditional setting of Artichoke has been given new life with a slick contemporary country makeover in which comfort and style sit side by side, colours are muted and soothing and the beautiful features of the building are allowed to shine through, a part of the carefully considered dcor. Chef and owner Laurie Gear oversees a refined modern European menu filled with charming additions including not only seasonal ingredients but foraged herbs, berries and flowers too and he and his team can be spotted hard at work in the open kitchen from the Kitchen Dining Room. Other spaces here at Artichoke include the glorious Garden Dining Room, opening out on to the bespoke herb wall and the Wine Room up on the first floor, leading in to the well stocked cellar and just right for sophisticated business dining. The perfect neighbourhood restaurant, Artichoke has certainly put Amersham on the map.
With a reputation to maintain Artichoke does it with flair. From the smiling greetings, happy clientele, quiet and professional kitchen brigade on full view through to superbly presented delicious food .We requested drinks that were not usual and they arrived quickly and were perfect. We have been here a few times over many years and if anything it is now even better than we remembered it. A lot of thought has gone into the menu compilation and the staff serving it were knowledgeable and described all the components of our dishes which added to our enjoyment. We chatted to adjacent diners who were also really impressed with the food and service and were also regulars.
Spotless cloakrooms even after a busy lunchtime and the wonderful petite fours were the crowing glory

We hope to take you on a culinary journey of the Indian subcontinent. You are invited to explore the many regional styles of cooking that India has to offer. From Tamil Nadu in the south to Delhi and Punjab in the north, from Goa and Kerala on the western coast to Hyderabad and Calcutta in central and eastern India, Dhaka - historical capital city of Bangladesh and other parts of this curry loving country, discover the hidden flavors and aromas of individually prepared dishes from these regions. We really do hope to elevate your taste buds to a spiritual level. For most Indian households, food is closely associated with many customs and beliefs, all of which form an inherent part of upbringing. 'Basmati' is about a journey, to discover, to explore and to experience. It is about spirituality and actions.'We do not sell fast food...... We serve fresh cooked food as fast as possible. Consequently, there may be a wait while we cook your food. We aim to have all orders ready to serve in 20-30 minutes. However, times may be longer subject to quantity, level of business and type of food ordered.
We are Indian so know what good Indian food should taste like. The food here was tasty and seemed to be freshly made. What I didn't particularly appreciate was the incredibly small portions compared to most other Indian restaurants around the London area. Also the waiting staff, although tried to be nice, came across as slightly 'pompous' in the way they spoke to us. I think they think Beaconsfield being an affluent area, they need to speak in a particular way to their customers, but to be honest if they just spoke with customers 'normally' I think that would be more appreciated. Also I seriously think they need to think about increasing their portion sizes!

The multi award winning Royal Standard of England is a real British pub situated in Forty Green. Steeped in history and 'olde worlde' charm, it dates back over 900 years and is The Oldest Freehouse in England.Serving delicious home-cooked food, local beers and home-brewed ales. The Royal Standard of England offers everything that youwant from a quintessential country pub.
Nice to see some improvements - space generating ideas, uplift of loos etc. Somethings never change menu (well a little bit) and the size of the portions. Tremendous food as ever loved the vegan bean and butternut squash burger - new chips - prefered the old style. A tad overpriced but lovely venue.

The Old Bengal is a grade 2 listed building formerly the Prince of Wales public house. Recently (December 2013) refurbished to give it that warm inviting feel. We pride ourselves on serving the best food at reasonable prices. Our Chefs are some of the most celebrated professionals led by Chef du Patron, Pritam Singh Rawat, who has over three decades of experience working in 5 Star hotels and restaurants in the Middle East and across the Indian Sub-continent. We aim to please and have introduced some exciting new dishes alongside our authentic traditional menu.
Without doubt one of the better Indian Restaurants in the area and we have tried a few. Excellent menu selection , attentive and helpful staff and well cooked and presented food.
We were in a large group and everything was served promptly and at the same time.
Reasonable drink selection. Would certainly go back here again.

Had a delicious meal for a friends birthday celebration. The waitresses were very patient after letting us have a good catch up together before ordering our food. All 4 of us couldn’t fault the food! I had the calamari starter with pineapple which was so fresh and flavoursome followed by the lamb rack which again was packed with complimentary flavours with a lovely sweetness from the pomegranate. The waitress also had great knowledge of the menu, answering our dietary/ingredient queries without having to go and check with the kitchen. The house red wine was surprisingly tasty, it went down so easily we had to get a second bottle! The dessert tray was a nice touch to allow you to see what you were getting before ordering, we ordered one each and all shared them as we just couldn’t pick! The chocolate orange pot with the sprinkle of salt was divine and the South African caramel cake (Malva pudding) with ice cream was another favourite! We were the last people in there but felt no pressure from them to leave to be able to close up.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice relaxed venue with a great menu and all for a reasonable price. Planning my next trip there already!

Indian Restaurant.
Living very close to Mr India we used to visit regularly and always enjoyed great service and super food. However there seems to have been a recent change in the ownership as the food and definitely the service levels have dropped massively. Our order was wrong twice, my main was a total disappointment, supposedly a hot curry but had no flavour and looked like it had sat at the pass for an age. When there is a birthday they play this awful music at deafening levels for an age, simply awful.
It’s walking distance but I really don’t think we will be back, it’s simply gone that far down hill that we will get in a car and drive.
Concentrate on giving better service, turn down that awful music for people’s birthdays and deliver better food and you might find that the restaurant will be back to being full again.

It is getting increasingly difficult to find a really good Chinese in Buckinghamshire area. Look no further than China Diner. We thankfully booked as the resteraunt was packed - service was good and the food all fresh and very tasty. Portions are not huge but that is ok given the quality . If is was to be critical the wine list and house wines leave a lot to be desired ! Recommended

From the heart of Italy, in the heart of Wooburn Green, we bring you the taste of freshly prepared Italian foods, made from specially sourced quality ingredients, just like "Momma Makes". Bringing you the authentic Italian experience, the charming Dolce staff create a marvellous, warm and friendly atmosphere, in their award winning restaurant. Eat. Live. Love. Share the passion
My partner and I went this evening and could not have asked for a better experience. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left everything was perfect. The staff were friendly, welcoming and polite. The restaurant was well presented and very comfortable, it really set a lovely tone for the evening. And the food was amazing. The calamari was the best I've ever had! I had the steak for mains and I can honestly say it was on par if not better than some of the specialist steak houses I have been to. We will definitely be going back here.
