This restaurant is a real foodie find, particularly in an area where plain grilled fish tavernas dominate.
The menu is made up of inventive Greek cuisine-with-a-twist choices, supplemented with quite a few daily specials. Quality is high - however, it seems that the kitchen is at its best when it is not rushed, i.e. when the place is about half full.
Salads, appetizers and mains are all excellent (desserts are below par, unfortunately). The house wines by the carafe are acceptable, if not memorable. Service is attentive, and the garden setting under the big umbrellas is very pleasant in fine weather. The interior is rather plain, so choose to sit outside, if possible.
Although prices are not cheap (figure around 25-30€ per person for a three course meal including wine), the high quality of the food more than compensates.
We will keep on going, happily!

I visited The Cavo seaside bar during a wedding and I must admit that I was overwhelmed by the overall experience. Great food, amazing stuff and great landmark. I would highly suggest it for those who want to experience a fine dining near Nea Makri!

I was making a short trip to Athens on business and had one evening free for dinner. My host kindly booked a table outside at one of my favourite restaurants in Nea Makri, H Trata. I also enjoyed one of my favourite meals. We started by ordering deep fried calamares, crispy prawns and a typical horiatiki Greek salad. We followed this with a lovely freshly grilled whole fish which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately we couldn't finish it all so the rest was packed up in the proverbial doggy bag. For dessert we had some fresh honeydew and water melon, cake and some fresh figs picked from the garden of one of the restaurant staff. Perfect.
This was all washed down with a pitcher of local white wine & I concluded this lovely meal with some ouzo and ice.
Service was great - efficient, friendly, but not overpowering. The temperature on that August evening was lovely and there was a breeze blowing making sitting outside, with a view over the Aegean and towards the island of Evia ((Euboea) absolutely wonderful.

Unknown to foreing tourists but well known to Greeks going for a swim in Zoumperi Nea Makri (30m drive from Athens), this restaurant is really worth a visit. Outstanding garden, delicious cuisine (do not forget to taste the desserts), totally family friendly, spotless. Been there twice, in the evening, I totally recommend it if you happen to pass nearby.

My husband and I ate twice at this restaurant with two friends and were extremely happy with the food both times. The 1st time we had cucumber salad, stuffed peppers with 3 cheeses, deepfried codfish and moussaka. All dishes were delish! We even got two free desserts: yogurt with honey & walnuts and apple slices with honey. The 2nd time: cucumber salad, grilled mushrooms, small variety of grilled meats and fried shrimps. Again, yummy food and dessert this time: cream dessert (yogurt with gelatin, orange zest, fresh squeezed orange juice with blood orange sauce). The owner George serves and his wife is the cook/chef in the kitchen. If you are ever in Nea Makri don't miss this restaurant!

Homemade ice-cream, waffles, crepes, sweets, traditional greek sweets, fruit salads, smoothies, cocktails
Reasonably priced ice creams and massive waffles (certainly the best along the sea front). Not always sufficient Seating for everyone, but in terms of taste and value it is excellent,

This restaurant has managed to survive in this area for more than 10-15 years. Obviously they are doing something the right way.. Sundays i think they have a buffet as well!

Indianos is what we call a traditional chill-out beach bar both after swimming or late at night. Not for intense dancing but for relaxing by the sea, one of my favourite suggestions nearby Athens!

This is a family run restaurant a few blocks in from the waterfront. We ate outside on the patio. Service was very friendly. We ordered bruschetta classico and some croquettes. Both were good but the croquettes were better. I ordered the Farfalle Gorgonzola while my husband had the Rucola (sp?) pizza. Both were excellent. The complimentary limoncello finished off a great meal. Recommended.

Half A litre of wine and water. Price total 25 euro. The service was good untill we got The food. We waited long time to order dessert and coffee. It was NOT possible to have A dessert.
