Sehr gutes Kaffee mit guter Auswahl an Süßspeisen und Hauseigene Bäckerei Produkten. Alles sehr schmackhaft und freundlich serviert. Man fühlt sich wohl.

The best restaurant in Hinterstoder. Excellent, fast service. The waiter enjoyed serving wine in mamba shape decanter. Life music. Attractive menu combining steaks and local cuisine.

This is an affordable self-service restaurant about 30 m from the lake bank with wonderful views. Beside comfortable in-house Seating, the restaurant has a large sunny Terrace partly under shade of chestnut trees overlooking the lake which is very popular among visitors. The car park is just about 50m away from the restaurant.
It is a typical Austrian Restaurant with at least 4-5 choices for vegetarians. All dishes are house made and most of them are organic (bio). There is a wide selection of coffee and home-made pastries.
During peak time, there may be long queue , but the service is fast. Portions are good and prices are reasonable (mid range).
This is an ideal place for families with lot of activities for children as well as adults. You can plan to spend whole day. The restaurant is well maintained and hygienic.

This is a cozy and rustic tavern on the hiking trail in the middle of beautiful natural surroundings. A popular joint among locals, it is a relaxing stop in your journey through the Polsterlucke and offers home cooked Austrian specialities. The rustic larch ceiling is still preserved in its original form.
We ordered pumpkin soup, a seasonal speciality, with bread. Taste was authentic and it was well presented and filling. Coffee portion was also generous and good.
It is also good for families with children as it offers a variety of attractions for them e.g. children go-karts, playground, garden, horse or carriage rides, petting zoo and so on.
It is approximately 25-30 minutes walk from the car park. However, one can arrange to be picked up in case there is any mobility issue. There is some public transport too though not very frequent. It is well maintained and hygiene level is good.
The tavern is also ideal for corporate events, Christmas and birthday parties, class reunions, christenings, etc. Reservation is highly recommended as it gets crowded on sunny days.

We found this place listed in Google and were staying nearby at a farm so we decided to try it. We ended up eating here 4 times in 3 days! It is a very nice restaurant with an amazing view of the Mountains. You can eat either indoors or outdoors - all with a view.
Every dish was hand-crafted including the soup and desserts. They even had a nice kids menu with real food on it (rather than chips and only fried food). They also have a very nice playground in the back to keep the kiddies entertained!
Often you find local restaurants to be "average" and salty but this was definitely not the case. The prices are very reasonable. The only drawback is you can't be in a hurry, esp on a holiday! It can take a very long time even for the starter course. But at least you know everything is being made fresh and with tlc.

Came in for a quick dinner and had the veal schnitzel with parsley potatoes and a side salad.
The meat was perfectly fried and the breading was crispy with a subtle taste of nutty butter. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and sprinkled with fresh parsley. The salad was undoubtedly fresh out of the garden - crisp and tasty. The only possible improvement would be a little of the nutty butter to accompany the potatoes.
As we were the only guests in the restaurant we got an excellent service.

We recently had a family reunion in Windischgarsten. Our maternal aunt treated all 33 of us to a lunch at the Waldhof Restaurant. The food and service were excellent and the little garden (yard) out front was a perfect retreat after the meal. We had Schnitzel, Jause Platter and Gulasch Soup. Everything about this restaurant, from the locals to the food is authentic Austrian. It is a great place.

Quiet Wednesday night in June in Hinterstoder but had an excellent meal sitting in the garden at Jaidhaus. Great service and recommedations. Schnitzel was excellent apparently. I had a really good vegetarian dish. Thank you.

This hut is a small one in old typical style just next to the fancy made Bären-Hütte. The food is done slower and also tast‘s so better. For me a perfect place for lunch as long as you like to stay where all the people are staying in the center of this ski area.
Good food, good drinks and reasonable prices
