UKORICA CSÁRDA IN BALATONFÖLDVÁR is a traditional hospitable place for guests by the Lake Balaton with great history. It is a thatched restaurant built in the old style so it can bring back guests to 19th century circumstances. Hungarian and international food specialities allow you to look into the secrets of traditional Hungarian cuisine. The inn, which is capable to welcome 500 guests at a time is situated by the main road and only 200m far from the port, is easy of approach on land as well as on water. The inn has its own bus park and awaits its guests on 365 days of the year.
We stopped here on our trip and enjoyed a good lunch. The place is very attractive and the food was good. They served us a nice complimentary appetizer plate of meats and bread with a delicious spread which we all enjoyed. I had Hungarian beef stew with noodles and it was quite tasty. The service was good although at the time to pay the server seemed quite annoyed that we wanted to use a combination of forints and credit card to settle the cheque. The prices were a bit higher than other places we had eaten but it is a tourist area. Overall we were happy with the lunch especially as the outdoor setting is so pleasant.

The selection for everything is huge. Coffee specialities, the lemonades full of fruits, teas, and every kind of European food you desire. We visited several times, and everything was excellent and generous portions. Pizza, pasta, soup, lemonade, coffee, meat dishes, desserts ... Could not find anything to complain about.

We came to this restaurant after a day in Hevitz lake, pretty hungry. We had a tasty aperitif made of aubergines and then we tried rice with pumpkin, pasta with meat and a delicious chicken. As desert, we had a home made tururudi - cottage...MoreDear Silvia, Thank you for taking the time to review your meal with us. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon. I hope next time we can make you more satisfied to achieve five stars in your feedback. Best regards, Kistücsök-Team

We go there every summer several times when in Balatonföldvár as in my opinion this is the best restaurant in town.
Their sirloin steak with fried onion is fabulous, do not miss it!!!
They are open only during summer season and unfortunately you still cannot pay with credit or debit card so bring some cash.
The restaurant is just near the lake in the center of the town.
It is good for lunch or dinner. If you want to watch some sport event (for example the Olympic games this summer) there are huge TV-sets, you can even watch several at the same time.
Drinks are also fine as well as quality food.

Actually: no taverna.A very nice restaurant, with excellnt food, drinks and service - in central location, on the Southern Bank of the Balaton
This restaurant is really good as to the food, decoration, service... everything.
There are a lot of tables but you have to reserve in advance as it is always full, being the most popular restaurant nearby.
This was our first time there and we haven't been disappointed.
There is a good choice and if you have special request they are always ready to fulfill it.
I can only advise it to everyone.

The Karolina restaurant is located at the Echo Residence hotel partway up the hill on Tihany. As it’s on a narrow sidestreet, it’s not so easy to find, so use a navigation system if you have one. There is free parking on the premises, spread out about the grounds.
We’ve been eating in restaurants in the northern Balaton area for over 20 years and it’s not an exaggeration to say that the meal here was one of the best we’ve ever had. We sat outside on the garden Terrace, which has partial views of the lake, and there was pleasant background music piped in. Our waitress, who also took our reservation (recommended at least in the busy summer months), was truly delightful and tried hard to communicate with us in a mixture of German and English, as we do not speak Hungarian.
Along with glasses of light wine, we had lovely composed salads, a chicken and dumpling dish, and terrific crispy pork belly with mashed potatoes. Dessert was cottage cheese dumplings and a creamy Napolean-like pastry. The only tiny negative thing to mention is that the pork dish was not piping hot. Otherwise we were completely satisfied with the meal and hope to return here often in the future. A 12% service charge was included in the check.
Tip: if you sit outside in the evening, spray yourself with mosquito repellent beforehand. Otherwise the bugs will enjoy a feast of their own!

This was our first experience of a Hungarian restaurant. Despite being with Hungarian friends we were still offered an English menu by a very friendly English speaking waiter.
Having made our selection we sat and relaxed in the Sunshine in the pretty and cozy courtyard. Our friends have a six year old daughter who didn't want a meal of her own but we were supplied with a spare plate to enable her to share with us.
The food was plentiful and delicious.
Our friends persuaded us to try Palinka - traditional Hungarian fire water. My husband managed to upset his glass which resulted in him wearing most of it. The waiter produced the bottle and topped his glass up free of charge.
With a total bill of £46 for four adults including drinks this represents excellent value in a lovely setting.

Nice and spacey location, easy to find. Quite big menu card , but food is freshly cooked, tasty and big portions, like usual in a "csárda". Staff is friendly and attentive. We had a nice family birthday celebration and were absolutely satisfied.

Artisian Gelato at the heart of Lake Balaton.
I started out with one scoop and ended with 5 on the first day...kept going back...At the end of my 3rd day, which was my last day, I tried 20 sorts of ice and I was still not finished...but I could not eat anymore. Even if you don't like ice, this will break your habit, is sooo good!!

Incredible experience: the food was great, so as the wines. That was a pity that we did not taste all the 6 of them.. Next time :) Anyways, the strudels were our favorites. There is a museum located inside where you can have a little piece from the products. It is called the First Hungarian Food Museum where there are Hungarian sauages, salamis, marmalade, various oils etc. I only had good expereice, I can only recommend this place!
