I am using this bridge quite often. It Bridges the sound between the Mainland and the island of Fehmarn. Fehmarn is known for most sun hours in entire Germany.
However the bridge is locally called "hanger" (Kleiderbügel). The bridge is a combination of railway, street and walkway/bicycle way across the sound.
Its a beautiful ride by bicycle across of crossing it from unterneath by boat.
Be aware in heavy winds. Since the bridge is in North-South drection it is usually closed in moments of heavy winds blowing from west. These situations usually happen in fall as October/November. This is also announced on the radio. The empty trucks, cars with trailiers and RVs are not allowed to cross the bridge. If you do it anyway and the cops get you, there is a penalty.

It does not look like much from the outside, but it is well planned and there is a covered waiting area. The collections are well presented, but there is nothing flashy. It is more pedagogic than commercial, and it is worth taking the time to read all the information.

Very active, "exploritorium" for kids (and I had fun too!). You can happily spend 3 or more hours, depending on your family -- my son didn't want to leave after 4 hours.
Unless you have time to kill, give the "Dinosaur" museum a miss -- not that it is bad, but just random exhibited -- all interesting, but no continuity whatsoever. My son LOVED panning for "gold" (iron pyrite) and digging for "edelsteine" (which almost none-existent) in the "Dinosaur" museum (see what I mean about random?).
Go to Knowledge World -- you'll have fun!

We were here with our family (2 adults, 2 kids (5+3)) and enjoyed our stay a lot. We took the guided tour which was informative and we could take a lot of nice pictures from rare birds.

We visited the Schmetterlinspark on a rainy day. Inside it is really tropical, beautiful plants, flowers and really lots of butterflies in all sizes. Prices are ok too.
