Voorthuizen (Dutch Low Saxon: Voorthuzen) is a village in the municipality of Barneveld, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Voorthuizen was founded, according to legend, near a crossing of a ford ('Voorde') of the Ganzenbeek, a brook that no longer exists, on the road from Amsterdam to Deventer. This road was called a "Hessenweg" ('Hessian road') because seasonal labourers from Westphalia would travel along this road into the Netherlands. Another important road that lead through this place was the trade route from Harderwijk to Wageningen. This made Voorthuizen an important stop along these two routes.

We received a romantic package as a gift and had a super day at Sauna Drome in Putten. For us the highlights were the Hammam massage and the Aufguss Sauna.
The latter sauna is an ''aufguss" where water with oil or fragrances is poured on the hot stones and the steam is then directed to the clients. The result is a very hot steam bath in particular at the higher stages in the sauna. The process is accompanied by a story teller who tells wounderful short stories, jokes or anecdotes (in Dutch).
The hammam massage involves a traditional massage with scrubbing, hot water and soap and is very relaxing for the muscles. It is followed by a nice tea in a separate room.
Also the subsequent stay at Hotel Hof van Putten was enjoyable with a nice prosecco in the room and the bed covered with rose buds (manmade).
Very good value for money.

It was very interesting to see all the "occupation" according to traditional methods. Some of those occupation were disappeared and some are still existed though it's completely in different condition. And seeing all vintage toys, my mind was totally back to my childhood. It's very nice to visit this museum even with your kids. You can tell them about the past too. The museum is located in a place that used to be a barn. On the the first floor is the collection of the toys. You can spend the whole day in this museum. There is also a restaurant and the museum shop sells some of those old style stuff

The Netherlands Poultry museum is a small volunteer run organisation for people who want to know everything about chickens, eggs and any Paraphernalia that comes with eggs/chickens.
From odly misshapen eggs, to early brood machines, to egg cups, to baby chicks, to egg auctions, to battery and free range chickens and of course various Dutch breeds of chickens.
The caffee servers good coffee with Dutch apple pie and there is a play garden for the lille ones next to the Terrace. They also hire out meeting rooms for companies!
The museum shop sells, apart from a wide range of chicken and egg related articles, lovely Advocaat and fertilised eggs for home breeding!!!! Quirky and well worth a visit.

I went here in 2014, when the theme was the Dutch Golden Age. In addition there were sculptures on the theme of childrens' songs. The sculptures were really nice. One of the artists explained things about the sculpting process and the sand used. Definitely worth a visit, if you're in the province.

Superleuk museum.

This attraction is located in a rural area near Ede and you will definitely need navigation to find it.
Basically it consists of several butterfly Gardens as well as some Gardens with exotical plants and wild flowers.
The butterfly Gardens are seperated in areas with exotic and european butterflies which is nice since I do not know any other butterlfy Gardens specializing in european species. The Gardens are very well designed and have a lot of butterflies, more so than for instance the hortus in Utrecht (which we visited a few weeks earlier). It is also clear that they breed their own butterflies and the process is shown in an instructive manner.
Recently they added a 'butterlfy friendly garden' which is just a garden with lots of beautiful wild flowers, with lots of butterflies but also other insects like bees. I have to say that it is a beautiful sight.
It is possible to buy some drinks and snacks and there is a large free car park.
So it is a really nice place and we liked visiting it but there is one drawback....and that is the reason I am only giving them 3 balls....the price is rather steep....it is 6,50 euro pp (for adults) and I just think this is too much...after all one hour is enough to see everything.

Escape Room is a unique real-life game in which you and your team get challenged to solve puzzels and to think outside of the box. Goal: escape within the hour from the mysterious room. The game is exciting, surrealistic, intens, magical, logical and exhilarating - all at the same time! Once you've entered the Escape Room you'll lose track of time and reality.
I played there both Laboratory and Meisjeskamer. And there is only one word to describe it which is WOW. Meisjeskamer has the story, riddles, effects and the entourage. It is one of those rooms which is worth travelling for. When you play, you totally loose the feeling of time and live the story.
I would not recommend to start playing escape rooms with this one because it would be difficult to find many rooms of such a high quality))) But it is definitely worth playing!!!!!!
P.S. Also there is a bar and relax area with computer games and other things. It is convenient to sit a while after the game and to discuss it.

The major attractions located in this pretty area of heath and woodlands include the Jachtslot St. Hubertus, an impressive Art Deco hunting lodge, and the Rijksmuseum Kröller-Müller, which features a rich cross-section of modern European art.
The Hoge Veluwe National Park has amazing types of landscapes including desert, grasslands and heavily wooded areas. Lovely to cycle around, there are free bicycles available. The Park is also home to the Kroner Muller Museum that houses modern and not so modern works of art, including a large collection of Vincent Van Gogh's works.
An amazing day, a unique treat, indeed, with the opportunity to cycle around for hours in the park after admiring the hundreds of works of art.
