Located in the south of China, the cityscape--Shenzhen-- is home to some of the most modern buildings worldwide. Although this area is largely industrial, it offers many tourist attractions, such as the Chinese folk Culture Village, Safari Park, and beach resorts. Perhaps one of the most frequented tourist attractions is Window of the World, which offers replicas of the Eiffel tower, the pyramids, and Taj Mahal.

I went to Shenzhen Lianhuashan Park in December 2017. It was a beautiful park. You can take a taxi to the South entrance or you can take subway line 4 to the Shenzhen Book Mall (Children's Palace Station) and then walk. The park is very crowded but really a nice place. It is full of flowers and I am not sure of the right word but they have created animals out of plants. There is a nice lake. But the key thing to do is to climb up hundreds of steps to the top. It is tough but well worth the climb. At the top is a really large statue of Deng Xiaoping the leader who followed Chairman Mao and who started China's economic development in 1980. Near the Deng Xiaoping statue is a tremendous view of Shenzhen and the Futian Business District. The park is one of the most fun things to do in Shenzhen.

Hiking Wutong Mountain is one of Shenzhen citizens’ most popular activities (and offers trails for all experience levels). It’s a great way to get exercise and breathtaking vistas. On a clear day you can see Hong Kong.
My friend and I were very impressed with Wutong mountain and the park itself. I've been to several Mountains in China and have experienced terrible litter, but this park was a refreshing change! We visited on a holiday, so it was busy, but we were still able to enjoy it. Will definitely go back to try other routes!
We stayed at a hotel near Laojie station and decided to take a taxi there and the bus back. The taxi cost us 50¥ even with bad traffic, but the bus was very easy to use getting back and of course much cheaper. We ended up getting off at the 2nd to last stop, Luo Hu Primary School, which was right near our hotel. If you're in a small group, i would recommend the bus as easy and very affordable.

Location: Futian, Shenzhen's CBD, close to the towering PingAn building.
MTR station: Green Line 1, Shopping Park station
I am not a fan of shopping Malls but I am impressed with this Mall. For the architecture, the tenants mix & user-friendliness. It has everything for everyone. From young kids (the outdoor playground is awesome) to Adults. If you don't like shopping, opt to hole up at Sisyphe Bookstore (mostly Mandarin books, there is a foreign imported book section). So many good restaurants (Hey Tea's teas are fantastic!), shops with high quality local brands and imported Brands . It is not Super high end but neither is it Low end.
The mall changed my not-so-positive perception of Shenzhen! Am very proud of the chinese !!

I came here specifically for the TeamLab Art Exhibition on a weekday. It was quiet and very nice to walk around. Plenty of restaurants, modern cafes, a huge shopping mall, Marriott Hotel, some decorations at the Bay reminds me a bit of Gardens By The Bay in Singapore. We did not stay for the night but heard that it is very beautifully lighted up. It’s a good place to visit in conjunction with an exhibition like TeamLab.

This is a long park with two sections, being Shenzhen Bay Coastal Recreation Zone on its south-west side and Hongshulin Coastal Ecological Park on its eastern side.. There are beautiful flowers, trees, and views along the length of the walkway. We went for a three-hour walk, ending it at the fishermen’s market. There many fishermen and women were offering their day’s catch of many types and varieties of sea-life to locals and onlookers.
Although the park is 13-km long, due to all the bends and turns. The walkway length is 20-km.
This is a relatively new park, having first opened in the summer of 2011. Along the pathway, there were many people out for a leisurely walk, riding bikes, and joggers. In many places, I could see people having picnics and playing games.
There are signs warning people not to jump in the water. Certain areas used to be where some people would try to swim to Hong Kong, i.e., before Hong Kong became part of China and when travel was not as easily permitted.
There are many interesting things to see from the walkway. Close to the Fishermen’s Market area, there are a number of police boats dock which are used to catch Smugglers.
From many places along the walkway, I enjoyed the panoramic view of the long bridge from Shenzhen to Hong Kong. In a few areas, I saw children playing and enjoying themselves in beach sand.
During the entire three-hour walk with some stops along the way, I did not see any garbage whatsoever. The park is very well maintained and policed through all the security cameras.
My WeChat recorded my walk at 14,000 steps.

This worthwhile attraction is part of Overseas Chinese Village (better known as OCT) and showcases the myriad minority ethnic cultures that make this vast country much less homogenous than imagined. It also serves as a great introduction to the history and traditions of China.
You can easily spend the entire day here, for approx $40! The park has 2 sections, the Cultural village and Splendid China. Staff speak very little english, so you are on your own. Ask for a map at the entrance which is in English and has all the necessary information.
The park open at 10:00. You will roughly spend until 15:30 covering all the different cultural villages. There are live dance shows at a lot of them and the time is on the map. They are worth it if you are interested in culture (which is why you would go here in the first place). The shows are spaced 40 min apart, and you spend the time in between looking at the various things on the way.
The finale of the first half of your time here is the "Legend of the Desert" show, which involves live stunts, fireworks etc. and is entertaining. Almost 200 performers in this show and it goes for 30-40 min.
Once this is done, you can head over to Splendid China to look at the miniatures. They are not great, i.e. not very intricate/well done, but you get a good view of the various tourist attractions around China. Once this is done head back to the village to catch the 2 other shows.
The Impress China show in the theater (you have to collect tickets from the window outside due to limited seating). I dont understand art/performances as such, but the show is entertaining. Dances, some acrobats, colourful costumes etc. Again another 200 odd performers and goes for 30+ min.
Last thing on the day is the performance in Phoenix Square. Again collect tickets first to gain entry. Another performance with some floats, acrobats, fireworks etc. Another show involving 200+ performers (might be common to Impress China) and goes for 45 min.
And there is food all around with a hawker themed street as well. All in all, a great day spent.

This park, which is next to the China Folk Village, presents the country’s best cultural assets and landmarks (such as the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Great Wall) in miniature in one place. The experience is fascinating and gives the sensation of having seen China in a day.

One of the most popular and enjoyable Day Trips from Shenzhen, this village is almost entirely dedicated to painting. Get a self-portrait done or request a freshly-painted Van Gogh or Rembrandt.
DaFen Oil Painting Village
Take Metro to DaFen
The walk to Dafen Oil Painting Village is about 5minutes.
Many shops big and small selling paintings. Many are copies of famous works though there are some originals ... mostly abstract art. There are shops selling art materials also.
Tip:
Take a walk around the village and look at the many shops before choosing your favourite. Many artists copying the same famous work so standards vary.
Nearest toilet is at the mall next to the Metro.
Prices start from RMB40 onwards.

I've no idea if you can ascend the tower, but the area it stands in is a remarkable, modern area within a remarkable, modern city. The architecture is well worth gawping at from street level, as not only the KingKey Tower, but the surrounding skyscrapers are all awe inspiring. It's all a short walk from the stunning Shenzhen civic centre and museum. Also check out the massive, sprawling underground world that connects the entire are just below street level. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is the world's largest underground city. It's all shops, restaurants and metro stations, but it's staggering how far it stretches and in so many directions. Plus in the stifling heat, it's a wonderfully air conditioned way to get around.

Known among locals as Shenzhen’s “Central Park” this gorgeous green space provides both respite from the noise of the city and a picture-perfect view of Shenzhen’s skyscrapers in the distance. Don't leave without buying a bag of lychees, which grow on the park’s trees.
The park with its beautiful lychee trees was another one of my unexpected delights in this vast metropolitan City with its awesome skyscrapers and sparkling infrastructure. It is clearly one of the reasons for Shenzhen earning its reputation as the garden city. Here, surrounded by flowering trees against backgrounds of verdant sloplng grounds and sparkling waters, one can easily commune with nature and forget one is in this enormous city.
