You could actually buy the ticket in cheaper price to include Korakuen Garden and Okayama Castle. The garden is beautiful during autumn and many people were coming to this garden to take some photos. Some couples were also seen taking some pre-wedding photo-shoots in here.

It was a steep set of steps to get up to the shrine. The shrine was relatively small with a fair bit of history. Nice grounds to wander around. Lovely timber work as usual. Covered walkway on the way down to the car park.

It is supposed to be the largest of all AEON malls whithin Western Japan, still new ( a couple of years old) and quite modern. Nice place to browse through fashion and everyday items, if not, great for lunchs, afternoon teas and dinners.Numerous upmarket restaurants on the 6th and the 7th floors as well as a huge food court below. You will be spoilt for choice.

The ruins of this old former copper refinery of 1909, was re-appropriated in 2008 to house a museum. It sits on the small island of Inujima, named after a large rock resembling a sitting dog. Surrounded by water, the walk through the old furnaces is mystrious and beautiful at the same time.

I am not sure about the park, I suppose the whole area is considered a park? However, Walking along the canal "river" is nice. Best place to start is from Momotorodori, 5 mins from Okayama station. There are some bronze and stone statues along the way. Once there, there are wonderfully crafted stone works, the pathway and some areas to sit to name a few. It's a nice stroll in the city. If you go far enough, at night you can easily find the hostess bars in the Chuo-cho area.

After disappointments with the castle and Gardens, we opted to travel out of town to visit this shrine. It was a beautiful day with rich harvests in process and the temple and temple grounds were extremely interesting. A real slice of real Japan. highly recommended if you have the time. An easy train ride and nice 2km walk or bike ride to the shrine. Taxis were at the small rural station and the local people were very helpful.
