Anyone visiting Morecambe can't miss Eric Morecambe's statue. It is situated right on the front. It is in a raised position.. just right for photo's and selfies. The ground in front of the statue is arranged with facts about Eric Morecambe's career. There is no cost so worth spending a wee bit of time to remember a blast from the past.

Happy Mount Park on Marine Road, Morecambe, is a traditional family park with modern facilities and attractions, including a free splash park. Happy Mount Park was originally created in the 1920s as a traditional urban park area. Today's family-friendly attractions cater for more modern tastes, whilst carefully retaining the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity of a traditional park. The park is open from 8.30am all year round and entry is free. Activities and attractions: •Cafe (this is operated by a private company not Lancaster City Council) •Splash Park - free to enter •Pirates In The Park indoor play area inside the cafe. •Unique outdoor natural adventure play area •Ornamental Gardens, woodland walk and habitat trail •Crown green bowling green (see Bowling Passes) •18-hole putting green •Miniature railway(this is operated by a private company not Lancaster City Council) •Swing boats, Trampolines, Crazy golf, Children's roundabout (this is operated by a private company not Lancaster City Council) •Floodlit multi-purpose pitch for tennis, basketball, five-a-side football and roller hockey For the latest information please check the Facebook page.
I'm guessing the park is more a summer venue. There is a splash pool (not open). There is a miniature railway (wasn't running). The Gardens were bereft of colour or interest.
As you come in the front entrance opposite the Promenade, there are memorial benches in an area to the left. Pass that and there is a small tatty infant playground. Opposite is the cafe / indoor play / outdoor mini golf.
When we entered the cafe it was just opening and the couple running this and the small indoor play (couple of climbs and a bouncy castle) seemed unprepared for visitors.
A bit further is the miniature railway and it looks like a new play area was under wraps behind that. The splash area is opposite. Further down is the timber trail and sandpit and Japanese Gardens.
A useful place to take the kids for a bit won't be returning in a hurry.

Built as the Victoria Pavilion in 1897. We are a Grade II listed building. We hold shows and events in our Theatre and Parisian Bar. Tours on Sunday between 13:00 and 16:00, during the week by arrangement.
The Winter Gardens Theatre in Morecambe was one of the classic venues for all the big names of Show Business from Victorian days up to the late1970's , when it started to show it's age a little bit, and required some quite costly renovation work. Unfortunately the necessary funding did not come to pass. However there is now a great team of volunteers working on many projects to raise money to assist with the restoration.
God Bless Them ! If ever you get the chance to go inside, you must DO SO .
Walk all the way down to the original Orchestra Pit, turn around and look around !!!!
I have lived in Morecambe most of my life and have been fortunate to have taken part in about 25 Amateur Operatic Shows and about 5 Plays as a Professional.
I still pop in now to have a look around ! In it's Heyday it could seat about 2400 !!
Wow. It has been my pleasure to write this.

The Platform is a dedicated live performance venue, uniquely situated in a restored Edwardian railway station on Morecambe Promenade. A variety of entertainment is on offer throughout the year from top acts, comedians, children's shows and community events. The Platform is owned and managed by Lancaster City Council. Keep up to date with the latest news on Facebook or sign up to receive our e-newsletter online. The venue is available to hire for weddings and events, please contact us for details.
Over the years I have seen some brilliant tribute acts here, especially Talon who do a brilliant tribute to The Eagles. I have also seen Dennis Lacorea (unsure of spelling) 'he is the voice of Dr Hook' the one that did the most of the singing, he was brilliant. My advice is keep your eyes open for who they have on, because you will have a great time. They also have free entertainment on outside of the Platform on several weekends during the summer.

I love the Venus and Cupid statue , I will always stop especially with a stunning sunset behind to take a photo . I believe it was created by a local sculptor , who worked alongside some local mums .

I can't imagine why this station, so convenient for the seafront was closed. Fortunately this attractive building has been preserved. The staff and information are good and are pleased to tell you about its history.

Whilst understanding the reasons, and that the facilities are probably better at the Globe Arena the atmosphere and location of Christie Park was much better. It also seems that any financial gain(s) have now been wasted with arguments as to who actually owns the club!. Such a pity

Coming out of Lancaster to Morecambe, the cycle paths are excellent and so much thought has gone into them. Once we found where to start in Barrow, having taken our bikes on the train from Morecambe, the cycle way was good. Even the A road was not that busy. We were cycling to Ulveston. Then the way took you up country lanes, up hill. Personally we found it a bit daunting cycling on a narrow country lane, up hill, on bends when traffic would not be able to see you. There may not be much traffic but it would not be expecting you. Being very leisurely cyclists with a 7 in front of our age, we infact preferred some of the straighter A roads where you could be seen. I would be a bit dubious about taking children on these narrow lanes. I can understand why it was done to enhance the views.
Another day cycled from Grange over Sands to Arneside, calling in at Levens Hall on the way. These side roads were excellent, except for the deviation off the A6 straight up a hill, then straight down the hill and it did not even make the crossing of the A6 easier. Final day from Silverdale , visiting Leighton Moss back to Morecambe, beware the wind!

On my visit it was an exhibition of the archaeological dig that is to take place around the
bay. There was also a very interesting talk from a RNLI volunteer on the work they do in the bay area.I also found the pictures from the Miss Great Britain days showing the old swimming stadium nostalgic as this was from my youth days in Morecambe.
Entrance is free but a donation is gratefully received. As I left it was interesting to see a
school trip going in.
