The ground in front of the statue is arranged with facts about Eric Morecambe's career. There is no cost so worth spending a wee bit of time to remember a blast from the past.

I'm guessing the park is more a summer venue. There is a splash pool (not open). There is a miniature railway (wasn't running). The Gardens were bereft of colour or interest.
As you come in the front entrance opposite the Promenade, there are memorial benches in an area to the left. Pass that and there is a small tatty infant playground. Opposite is the cafe / indoor play / outdoor mini golf.
When we entered the cafe it was just opening and the couple running this and the small indoor play (couple of climbs and a bouncy castle) seemed unprepared for visitors.
A bit further is the miniature railway and it looks like a new play area was under wraps behind that. The splash area is opposite. Further down is the timber trail and sandpit and Japanese Gardens.
A useful place to take the kids for a bit won't be returning in a hurry.

The Winter Gardens Theatre in Morecambe was one of the classic venues for all the big names of Show Business from Victorian days up to the late1970's , when it started to show it's age a little bit, and required some quite costly renovation work. Unfortunately the necessary funding did not come to pass. However there is now a great team of volunteers working on many projects to raise money to assist with the restoration.
God Bless Them ! If ever you get the chance to go inside, you must DO SO .
Walk all the way down to the original Orchestra Pit, turn around and look around !!!!
I have lived in Morecambe most of my life and have been fortunate to have taken part in about 25 Amateur Operatic Shows and about 5 Plays as a Professional.
I still pop in now to have a look around ! In it's Heyday it could seat about 2400 !!
Wow. It has been my pleasure to write this.

Over the years I have seen some brilliant tribute acts here, especially Talon who do a brilliant tribute to The Eagles. I have also seen Dennis Lacorea (unsure of spelling) 'he is the voice of Dr Hook' the one that did the most of the singing, he was brilliant. My advice is keep your eyes open for who they have on, because you will have a great time. They also have free entertainment on outside of the Platform on several weekends during the summer.

Bay Cycle Way

Reviewed By walkingWakefieldUk - Wakefield uk

Coming out of Lancaster to Morecambe, the cycle paths are excellent and so much thought has gone into them. Once we found where to start in Barrow, having taken our bikes on the train from Morecambe, the cycle way was good. Even the A road was not that busy. We were cycling to Ulveston. Then the way took you up country lanes, up hill. Personally we found it a bit daunting cycling on a narrow country lane, up hill, on bends when traffic would not be able to see you. There may not be much traffic but it would not be expecting you. Being very leisurely cyclists with a 7 in front of our age, we infact preferred some of the straighter A roads where you could be seen. I would be a bit dubious about taking children on these narrow lanes. I can understand why it was done to enhance the views.
Another day cycled from Grange over Sands to Arneside, calling in at Levens Hall on the way. These side roads were excellent, except for the deviation off the A6 straight up a hill, then straight down the hill and it did not even make the crossing of the A6 easier. Final day from Silverdale , visiting Leighton Moss back to Morecambe, beware the wind!

On my visit it was an exhibition of the archaeological dig that is to take place around the
bay. There was also a very interesting talk from a RNLI volunteer on the work they do in the bay area.I also found the pictures from the Miss Great Britain days showing the old swimming stadium nostalgic as this was from my youth days in Morecambe.
Entrance is free but a donation is gratefully received. As I left it was interesting to see a
school trip going in.
