Beutifull small Town. Has a stong British mining heritage and their specialty is "Pastes" like pastries filled with an Array of choices. From salt to sweet. We took an evening stroll here and Town is beautifully lit. STrolled in and out from some small shops and just took it easy. absolutely Worth a trip also during the day.

The Acosta Mine starts working in 1727 and keeps its productivity until 1985. Nowadays it has became in an important Museum where you can know about its History and relevant acpects about mining. The Site guards historic architectural remains, testimony of its Historical stages: Colony, english immigration and investment in the region, starting with the Age of Steam and the advent of electricity with the Northamerican investors. You will also visit the inside of a tunnel where you'll be able to see a Silver vein after a historical tour about mining work.
Good little tour underground and talk (in Spanish) of working conditions in this silver mine that closed only as recently as 2005. A good introduction in mining in the Real de Monte area and if its a tad cold in the mine, the cornish pastie...MoreWe appreciate your comments, thank you for your visit!

If you have decided to go to Mineral del Monte, the English Graveyard is a must.
Please make an effort to hire a local guide, preferably look for Sir Chencho's daughter, her stories and knowledge of the place are outstanding, she is the current graveyard keeper.
The mix between cultures, religions, cults, groups and homogeneity between heterogeneity is amazing, but you will not get this without the dedicated explanation.
The place is small, but it will take you a good hour to go through.
The access requires a small 200 meter walk on cobblestones.
Enjoy!

Huasca is a small town with a unique character. This can be seen in the cobblestone streets, to the street vendors, plaza and church. Thee aroma of bread, tlacoyos, tacos, quesadillas and other food seems to be everywhere.
Depending on arrival time, street parking is difficult and what is recommended is to pay one of the residents a small fee for parking at their home, which is a common occurrence.
Would recommend a trip earlier in the day due to crowds.

Neat Mining Museum partly operational and under restoration with guided tours (in Spanish). Closed in 2005 this mine has most elements still in place (other than the steam boiler). If you combine with a trip with a tour of the nearby Ancosh Mine you'll also see the mine shaft up close. The winding gear is a real treat and worth the 40 peso entrance fee alone.

The Miners' Hospital was founded in 1907, it was created thanks to the collaboration of miners and the Real del Monte and Pachuca Company, with the purpose of having a workers' Hospital Center, specially for those who suffered accidents and cronic diseases acquired in the course of their work. Nowadays it is a unique Museum in Mexico. It guards the original medical facilities, furniture and equipment used since its opening. This Museum is an interesting example of occupational medicine in our Country and an effective mean to get to know its History.
Interesting hospital once used for miners. Didnt have a tour but it is self explanatory. Worth a visit when in Real del Monte. It is a steep walk uphill from the center

This is a small museum. Entrance fee MXN$35 is included a cooking class of paste made by yourself. (Rolling the wrappers, putting the prepared filling in and closing the paste...) There is a guide introducing the history of the paste. After tour of museum, we can taste our hand made tasty pastes. We had fun here.

We made a reservation about a month ago and had to deposit into their bank account(they do not take credit cards for reservations) $4,500 pesos. We were told at the time that we could cancel if needed. Today- 9 days prior we called to change our reservation for a smaller rm as a couple of people that were going could not go due to illness. We were told by a Francisco Ortega who is supposedly the one in charge-that the cost for two nights would now be $3,200 but that the extra $1,300 would NOT be refunded to us due to the policy of the hotel. REALLY??? WE WERE NEVER EXPLAINED THIS! This all took place during a 19 min call when this Ortega guy would not let us say a word- we got in about 1-1.5 minutes worth of pleading with him to just stop talking and listen! Unbelievable!
This is the WORST customer service I have ever had from a hotel
