From the historic town center you can walk through the old fisherman's quarter along the river Weser to the waterway crossing within 30 minutes. You can enjoy the landscape with the 2 canals crossing the river. Interesting architecture from 1910 plus good views of the natural and the artificial waterway.

Kaiser Wilhelm Monument

If (when) you visit the Kaiser Wilhelm Denkmal (Monument) in Porta Westfalica, you can see the entire city from above. It's very beautiful and relaxing.
The only downside is that if you don't speak German, you won't understand any of the plaques placed about the monument.

I remember this building in the early 1950s when it was 'occupied' by Rhein Army. It was amazing then & still is now. I enjoyed revisiting it, & the surrounding streets I remember as a child. I didn't know about the connections that Bueckeberg had to the 1930s regime - sensitively handled.

Hubschraubermuseum

Even if you're not interested in helicopters you'll find this place interesting, the first section after the shop is full of model helicopters and you head upstairs to a display of helicopters, after this you walk across to the other building and there is a small display and onwards into a huge area with every type of helicopters, interactive displays and the list goes on.
Well worth the visit, you can easily spend a few hours here without looking too hard.

We visited this place on a recent trip to Germany. It is so beautiful. All of the landscaping was immaculate and wonderful. There are Fountains and flowers. Plenty of places to walk and enjoy the grounds. A very large Fountain highlights the landscape and leads to the Kaiser's Place which was built in 1703. Everything was so tranquil and peaceful. Loved this place.

Buckeburg Castle

Reviewed By DDay1959 - Cookeville, Tennessee

We took a tour of Buckenburg Castle and it was unbelievable. The castle was built in the 1300's and has been in operation ever since. Several additions have been made to the castle. I was amazed by the beauty and opulence of the inside and outside. The tour guide was very knowledgeable regarding the castle and it's history. Since we were on a group tour, we were able to have translators with us to interpret German into English. This is one of the coolest places that I have ever had the opportunity to visit. If you want to photograph the inside of the castle, there is a fee of 5 Euros per camera.

Bali Therme was the reason for our stay in Bad Oeynhausen and we were not disappointed. While prices are high, so are the service standards. Staff was more helpful than at similar places elsewhere and everything looked well maintained.
It is not only the great choice of different pools and saunas which make this a great place for relaxation. What really makes a difference is the Bali themed decor that is not just superficial but can be found everywhere.

Potts Park

Reviewed By Jordanovichy - Portsmouth, United Kingdom

I visited Potts Park with some friends in early April. Rarely do I have such a laugh in an amusement park. There's so much fun, weird and crazy stuff to do...including a toilet attraction!
There are many slides, there are some water rides, there's a building dedicated to illusions to mess with the mind, it is all fantastic.
I loved Potts Park, so much to do, 2 roller coasters, it is just a great little park, highly recommended.
