There are many Beaches in Bengal along the coasts of Bay of Bengal but the oldest and most popular beach is of Digha. Recently the State Government has made lots of beautification projects along the beach. It's nice to be there for a long weekend holiday with friends and family.

It was a vlean and pristine beach then. Catering to the fishing fleet. We stayed at the Benfish guesthouse. Great views from the beach specially the numerous red crabs shuffling along. The smell for the fish rotting in the sand wasn't too nice though.

The Jhargram Raj Palace is the current residence of the Malla Deb Royal family,it is a structure combining the Gothic and Muslim architectural modes. About 15 of the rooms in the ground floor have been converted into a Heritage Hotel. The Jhargram Raj Palace is an opulent Gothic structure built in 1931 AD, this palace was designed by the Calcutta Improvement Trust during the reign of Raja Narasingha Malla Deb Bahadur. The Palacial Guest House is a part of the Jhargram Raj Palace it has been a host to several dignitaries right from it's inception.
The rooms at Rajbari is not functional now, instead there is sparkling new Rajbari Tourist complex just outside the Rajbari walls. It is very good, clean, quite and beautiful. The staffs are very helpful and courteous. AC rooms are spacious, clean having all amenities. Same for the toilets. May be we found it extra clean due to CM visit two days ago, but overall the facilities are good. The water body is getting revamped with Fountains etc.
Visit Rajbari is of no use, you can only visit outside the building.

Tamluk Bargabheema Temple bears the rich tradition of old historical Tamralipta Town. Everyone has heard and read about old Tamralipta Port in history. Bargabheema temple, a temple of Kali is the star attraction of this historical place. It's very old and it's told that Sutee's ankle had fallen here. There is a pond adjacent to the temple which has many stairs and is very very old. People sacrifices goat infront of the temple. There is option of offering 'Bhog' or 'prasadam' which are cooked by the priests of the temple and can be taken there. The special item of the 'bhog' is ' Shol machher amer tok' i'e some sour, tangy preparation of shoal fish with raw mango. It's almost 100 km from Kolkata towards Haldia. You will have to get down at Tamluk on Mecheda-Haldia Road via Tamluk.

Chandrakona by itself offers very little, other than the Park with its flowers. OK if you are a flower lover - but that would not justify travelling all the way from Calcutta. A must visit place would be the Canyons of Gangoni - about 30 kms from Chandrakona. Amazing!!!! For a thorough city-bred bloke like me, it was difficult to believe such unique topography exists in our very own backyard.
Coming back to the topic of Parmalkanan Park, it would make sense to put up there and use it as a base to visit Gangoni. There aren't too many eateries along the way, so you can plan to have your meals at the Banalata Restaurant near the Parivahan Nivas in Chandrakona.
