Asteras Cruises

A wonderful daily cruise with BBQ to the north-east coast of Corfu island

Reviewed By Quality-Pro - Amsterdam

I may have tried a lot of different experiences but nothing can compare a day on board Asteras. I will definitely do it again and again...every single time is another moment of pure happiness and when I leave I only long for my next dream cruise with captain Telis. It has to do with his unique and generous personality : he used to work for Club Med and it certainly shows in the way he entertains his flock.... ( explaining in all these many different languages, including Russian!). Leaving from Dassia, he takes us all along the beautiful North-East coast through Barbati, Nissaki,Agni, Kouloura and Saint Stefanos to an heavenly cove where the most unbelievable & huge barbecue is being served. No wonder he keeps the secret of that incredibly tasty meat, local sausages and special salad dressing....2 hours of pure pleasure swimming in crystal clear waters... another stop in the picturesque village of Kassiopi : time for wandering around and a " Frappé" on a Terrace of the little harbor....then another dream stop diving and swimming in the blue caves....Heading back to Dassia, you just feel gifted with hospitality, beautiful scenery, music, laughs, great food , wine and Ouzo....and grateful to captain Telis, his caring charming wife Marilena and the dedicated crew, very nice guys. I' ll be back....soon....

Apollo Dive Center

Reviewed By Megadunk - Brisbane, Australia

We didn't dive for 4 years, but with Maria we felt at ease and very safe all the time. We really enjoyed our refresh dive. We didn't want to dive in the afternoon as we never dived from a boat and Chris offered us to go with them in the boat and check how you dive from a boat. Top equipment, very professional staff. We would gladly come again to Apollo dive and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.

Captain Homer works well with his Scouser wife to provide a fun and entertaining trip around the Messonghi coastline of Corfu, swimming opportunities, simple but wholesome lunch with wine, several stops to get off and stretch your legs, good value and recommended.

Corfu Donkey Rescue

Hope was our first rescue in January 2004, Dusty the second. Since then over 450 donkeys have been taken into our refuge here in Corfu. As a refuge we aim to give: the old a safe and happy retirement; the sick a chance of cure; the injured the chance of recovery; the abused the chance of regaining trust and hope and the abandoned the feeling of security again. Take a look on our website for more information, pictures and a detailed map.You are very welcome to visit us, see the work we do and experience the calm company of our donkeys.

We only found this sanctuary on tripdvisor and with trusty google maps... Nerves of steel required for the tiny dirty track off the road into the sanctuary. It is wonderful to think of the hard work and dedication that goes on here. We got a tour around and petted and brushed the donkeys. They are lovely gentle creatures and tales of their mistreatment here in Corfu saddened us. Please visit. Donate and raise awareness. Bring wipes and water to clean your hands plus bug repellant spray.

Casa Parlante

"Welcome! Please, come in! The Count will be with you presently. He hopes you will join him and the Countess in the drawing room for tea." This is what you would hear at Casa Parlante, the most alive historical museum in Corfu. A 19th century noble mansion comes to life with stories to tell. In the unique architectural setting of a classical mansion in the historic Old town of Corfu, the everyday life of the island's 19th century nobility is recreated. Through animated figures, using robotic technology, and the perfect reproduction of decor and furnishing, Casa Parlante promises to deliver you a true insight into bygone Corfu. Awakening all your senses, the traditions of the island unfold in front of you, depicting family life in an authentic experience of sights, sounds and smells. Before your eyes the house will come to life... Listen to the children of the family playing music, smell the aromas of the cook's virtuosic cuisine, read the headlines of the Count's newspaper... Casa Parlante is a unique museum: it brings history to life and lets the visitor breathe it in.

After visiting this museum shortly after it opened I was most impressed. Returning with friends I enjoyed it just as much and liked hearing their very favourable comments. It has a great guide and gives a good impression of how wealthy families lived in Corfu town. Highly recommend it but do not go on a tour - the individual tickets at the door are very reasonable.

Madison Garden Bar

Reviewed By A R - Manchester, United Kingdom

Nice bar set in lovely Gardens. Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Drinks were a bit on the expensive side. Downside for me was their strange Seating system. It's the only bar where you wait to be seated. Most people gravitated to the bench Seating along the front that have comfy cushions. If you did manage to get to the seats before the staff got to you they all had a 'Reserved' sign on the table. Then the staff decided whether you could sit there! On being allowed to sit there we were told we may have to share (as there are two bench seats facing each other) which for us wasn't a problem. We were there for a couple of hours but nobody else turned up. The next night we went in again and was allowed to sit in the 'comfy' seats but only stayed for one drink. Went in again next night but weren't allowed in the 'comfy' seats, even though no one sat down in the time we were there. I can only presume if you are new they sit you in the 'comfy' seats to draw you in and depending on how often you go in and how much you spend dictates where you can sit and whether you get a bowl of nuts! Rather strange so we didn't go in after that.

The Governor's Olive Mill

We are delighted to welcome visitors from all over the world. Let us guide you into our olive world. A trip from the past to the present and from the present to the future of olive oil. The most authenitc amabassador of the Corfiot olive tradition and one of the world's most healthy olive oils, open their gates to the audience in an unforgetable lifetime experince!

Drove down to the Governor and can honestly say we were not disappointed. As per previous comments it DOES deserve all of it's awards. We were warmly greeted with a glass of wine then treated to a little history about Corfu, Olives and The Governor. Then shown around & explained the olive oil process.
Then onto a short video and of course the tasting, including bread, tomatoes and some feta cheese. The gentleman who showed us how to taste the olive oil was very knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating (As my Mother in law has Dementia)
A great afternoon out and we would highly recommend it to anyone.
Bought 4 bottles (approx £18 for 500ml) but top quality eating olive oil.
Will enjoy eating later (no cooking with it though) :-)
And thank you to our host at "The Governor" for a warm Greek/Corfian welcome, we'll definitely be back in the future.

Beautiful beach, sun loungers available to rent with parasols for €4 each. Bars and restaurants near by. Plus you can get drinks brought to your loungers if required. It’s a shingle beach so advise footwear, also some sort of shoe to enter the sea as you won’t look very graceful entering or leaving the sea. Spent a lovely day here.

Kalami Beach

Reviewed By alan c - Waltham Abbey, United Kingdom

We were attracted to this beach due to the Durrells white house being located at the far end of the beach. The beach itself is pebbles but is backed up with some eating places where you can sit and take in the view. We were disappointed that the white house was not the family one shown on the TV series but one of the sons lived there there for a time which we thought was a bit of a take on.
