This lovely monastery was establshed sometime after 1425, and was together with Maribo the only monasteries in Denmark belonging to the Birgitt order. both munks and nuns used to live here, but on separate sides of the building. The building is much smaller today than it originally was, but it is a gem of a church that is a must visit if you are in the area, regardless of your faith. The garden area is also very lovely

It's was an interesting place to visit to hear more about Salt how it is expanded from various places and the history of it. There is a nice museum and some interesting videos, i read earlier reviews stating that the museum was outdated, i don't agree about that, many museums are the same way as this. We also visited the bath. It was a nice visit, but don't go for the bath alone. The price is around 13 euro and that is an ok price, if you see all there is.

We dropped into Mariager on Sunday at lunch time. Whilst having chips and mayonnaise on the water front for part of our lunch bought from the local grill. Horses carts bands and marchers and floats arrived to do a parade starting from the wharf. An old locomotive pulls up and old volvos all parked in a row for display everyone from these were dressed in old style clothing. Other trains were there for display as well. We watched parade great atmosphere by locals and looked at the cars and trains so we were really lucky.

Mariager Museum is established in a cosy merchant's house, 300 years old, in the centre of the old convent town. The collections of the museum originate from the areas south of the inlet of Mariager Fjord and include a grocery store from the 1930ies, a unique barber's shop, a row of living rooms including a peasant's living room from the end of the 18th century as well as kitchen utensils from three centuries. In addition, you will find minor Exhibitions on the church and convent of Mariager and of local peasants' clothes.

We were a group going on trip to see a colleague how happend to live at one of the old stations, so we used the train to get there.
Everything was great.
From buying the ticket from the station manager / Conductor in the old uniform, getting the ticket embossed with the date on the old machine to getting on the old steamer and trotting out from the harbor through the country side to the station.
This is time travel in a pace you can follow.
Highly recommended.
