With about 120,000 people, Stavanger is Norway’s fourth-largest city and a fascinating mix of old and new. Its history stretches back deep into the Middle Ages. Stavanger was once a tranquil coastal market town and then later an important fishing port. But it was the 1969 discovery of oil offshore that forever changed the now bustling city’s fortunes and landscape. Don’t miss the well-preserved old town (Gamle Stavanger), the unique Canning Museum or the 12th-century Stavanger Cathedral.

I was at this restaurant together with my wife and 2 other couples, and we had made Reservations for the "Winemaker's Dinner" event. The restaurant served a 6 course meal, including genereous servings of various wines to accompany the dishes. Generally speaking, the wines were good. The problem was the food.
Without going into details, I can say the folllowing: You know that a restaurant has failed to deliver when you leave after a 6 course meal and you are left with the question whether you should hurry home to get a cheese Sandwich or if you should stop by MacDonald to get a burger. We were all starving. All this after paying NOK 2100 (approx USD 180) per person. Judged by the overly affected and creative dishes, my judgement is that they may be stuck in excessive complacency and self indulgence.
A major disappointment, and I feel that this restaurant needs a wake up call to return to fundamentals. It should be quite simple: Make sure that servings are generous and don't let the desire to be overly creative obscure the possibility of servïng something tried and true. I know you can do it.
The waiters were polite and service was faster than expected. The restaurant is very centrally located in downtown Stavanger, and the atmosphere is very good with lots of light from large windows facing the street.

Went during the week without Reservations (would recommend). They managed to find us a table and we were very happy. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was very good...especially the naan bread. If you like Indian food would highly recommend and would advise Reservations so you get a table.

Far East is located just by St. Petri Church on Nytorget. Our main priority is top quality food, good and fast service. That is why you can order our food both online and on the phone. We also have free wireless internet access while you are waiting or eating with us. You can choose whether to eat in or take the food with you. Far East has a separate sushi menu. We are well known for a broad selection of high quality sushi. High quality food is our game so we only use produce from well known quality suppliers like King Mikal, Leroy, Bama and Gabbas.
We ordered the fried rice with chicken, shrimps etc., the noodles soup with wan ton and the Singapore exemplifies with chicken, shrimps etc. All the food were good! We really enjoyed the meals and highly recommend!!

I visited Fisketorget for a very late lunch on the strength of favourable Tripadvisor reviews. It was excellent. The efficient service and pleasant ambiance enhanced a very hearty fish soup and bread selection, good local pilsener beer and a delicious ‘deconstructed fruit crumble’ dessert. The cost of just under £40 was not at all bad for Norway and much better than the amount it would cost to eat at a top-ranked restaurant in most other cities. Nice view of the harbour too.

This is a lovely Ethiopian restaurant in every regard. The food is high quality and tasty. The decor is authentically Ethiopian. The staff is helpful with great english. The understand their clientele by providing traditional Ethiopian dishes that you are supposed to eat with your hands but they leave cutlery for you anyways. There is a large and super selection of vegetarian meals.

Ramen plus many more home cooking style
After spending the majority of the day, travelling to and hiking up Pulpit Rock (in the snow) we were desperate for some good food. Everything about this restaurant screams quality and the service was very good. Drinks were served promptly and it took roughly only 15 minutes, after ordering, for our first course to arrive.
The host, and her waitresses, were incredibly attentive and made pleasant conversation with us before our main course. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Stylish Burger joint at the down-town area in Stavanger. Laid back atmosphere, fantastic burgers and lively bar, located in a reconstructed wooden house from the early 1860`s.
Great range of burgers which are really tasty and filling. I had cheese and bacon burger with sweet potato fries and a decent IPA beer followed by cheesecake. Needed walk around Stavanger afterwards.
Staff are genuinely welcoming and fun.
Had to sit by bar as forgot to reserve table.
Will be back!
Thank you all
