For me, it is number 1 when visiting Liepaja. Well kept park, nice playground, loved the little swan pond. The sea is near the park. Visited this place in january and there were lots of children playing, people doing sports, I think there are lots of people during summer.

I had a tour guide from Karosta Prison take me round the Forts. It was worth having a guide as he was very knowledgeable of the area and had many stories to tell. He pointed out where the Iron Curtain was and also took me underground by candle light which was quite scary and many horror movies came to mind!! It was a great tour. I wouldn't have found out all about the history and explored underground if I had just visited them on my own.

This monumental symbol of both the Orthodox Church and the tsarist monarchy must have been at odds with communist doctrine and no doubt a thorn in the side of the party devout. Finished in 1903 and christened by Nicholas II himself, it served as the garrison’s church much as it did during the Latvian period. The Soviets however used it as a warehouse, gymnasium and meeting hall.
Our second visit to this gorgeous, typically Orthodox Cathedral. The restoration is progressing nicely (I think it's privately funded). Disclosure: a member of my family was an officer in the pre-WWII Latvian Navy; he may have worshipped here. And a note to my fellow tourists: the dress code for Orthodox churches is fairly conservative, but no more so than Catholic and Protestant churches were pre-1970. Not a big deal.

There is only guided tour, but this is not a problem. You can choose from two type 1) informational tour 2) experience tour. We took informational tour. Angry lady came and tried to act as jail guard, but it looked quite silly. During the tour, we were said that this is NOT A PRISON, but they called it prison, so it will be easier for tourists to know it. Also, when lady was talking about penalties for imprisoned people, she said it with pride and joy. which was quite strange. Also, lady got to know, that people rights is not a good idea. Very bid disappointment as some more historical facts and figures could make it quite interesting tour. Also tone and outfit of lady should be changed.

Bronze street sculptures are placed all along Kūrmājas Prospect. Walking towards the sea along Kurmajas Prospekts, one will be followed by the gaze of a curious crow, a boatman known also as a coffin-maker, a telephone technician climbing a pole and some other interesting sculptures.
Liepaja is known as the City where the wind is born and the song is of particular importance to the residents of the City. The characters of the city's anthem is cast in bronze encouraging the visitor to listen to the sounds of Liepaja's Kurmajas Prospekts ...
One leaves the built up area into a type of garden leading to the beach front. The garden is tastefully decorated with colourful trees and flowers.
The Prospekt is well maintained and clean with flowers everywhere. The buildings alongside also looks very old and historical.

The concert hall „Great Amber” comprises eight stories of 14’126 m². It has 3 concert halls – the Great Hall with 1010 seats, the Chamber Hall and the Experimental Stage, in addition to public events spaces Civita Nova and a restaurant. The unique interior and excellent acoustics of „Great Amber” permit to say that a visit to this centre will suresurely become an unforgettable experience!
WOW... what a beautiful building. Just stunning !!!
I hope that whoever designed it, got a special prize, because it is so beautiful.
Just looking at it, especially from the outside, is really amazing.
Inside, a small exhibition and if you are lucky, you will be there, when they have a concert at the main hall.
One of the nicest modern building I have seen !!!
Inside also a nice cafeteria that open everyday up to 22:00 good value food, quite cheap.

As Liepaja is quite a small city, you probably can't miss this place as it is located in the city centre near such other attractions as Liepaja university, tourism information center and etc. We found this place nice in summer, some good shade and lovely roses, but also liked this place in winter while decorated with christmas decorations. Sadly there was no snow but the decorations were really nice and you can hear nice calm melodies in the square while walking around.
