It is a popular destination for all those who wish to have an outdoor picnic, enjoy some outdoor activities and games or even just to have a relaxing day out with friends and family. Popular amongst joggers and cyclists, it is a gigantic park, spanning about 225 acres of land in the center of the city. Within, it has a lake, amusement park, recreation center, Fountains and a zoo, amongst other attractions, making it a great place for some fun for people of all ages.
This local attraction is a must visit on all tourists' lists. It was opened to the public in 1958, on the occasion of the city's golden jubilee, the 50th anniversary of establishment. This park was originally a gift, to the town of Tatanagar from the TATA Steel Company.
While being built under the visionary Jamshetji Nusserwanji Tata, the Vrindavan Gardens in Mysore were used as an inspiration. This park also shows off a statue of Mr. Tata and is also known as the "Mughal Gardens of Jamshedpur". The presence of the zoological park, Foliage Par, and Rose Garden is part of the reason why this park is such a famous one.

Dimna lake is the main water catchment are for the city of Jamshedpur. It's reached by a picturesque road (around 8 kilometres)which traverses through hillocks at the base of the Dalma hills.
The lake, surrounded by the Dalma range of hills is a place of serene beauty. Wooded areas surround the lake and there are two dams with walking paths. These sites offer great photo opportunities.
There is a Management learning centre situated on a hillock, offering fabulous views which can be visited when classes are not in progress with permission from TATA Steel. Tata steel also has a small guest house situated on the lake.
The site offers facilities for water based activities such as rafting, motor scooters and in the process of introducing Scuba Diving training. These are run by the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation and are open to the public.
This site is a very popular picnic spot, so best avoided during weekends, especially during the winter months. Also, the route passes through Mango, one of the most crowded areas before reaching the dedicated road to Dimna.

Many leading business houses of India have contributed towards the country's growth but one organisation has lead the way with a difference- the Tata group founded by Jamshedji Tata. This centre serves as a monumental eye opener of the timeline of its great flagship - Tata Steel. With its human touch over the ages it helped in binding the social fabric of decades n created a company par excellence. This place is a mosaic of its heritage.
