A visit to Zoomarine today was such a pleasure with pleasant staff and many interesting shows and experiences. In particular, the dolphin show was superb and the sea lion show very entertaining, we haven't seen better even at the well renowned SeaWorld.
The member of staff at The Americas bird habitat was very informative and made that visit really interesting. The cafeteria was clean and the food tasty. We would highly recommend Zoomarine for all the family and will definitely return on our next visit to the Algarve.
The food at the cafeteria was tasty

FIESA - International Sand Sculpture Festival

Sand City is the largest sand sculpture exhibition in the world and it hosts the FIESA International Sand Sculpture Festival. Every year, a group of talented sculptors, from various parts of the world and experts in the art of sand sculpting, join to give shape to fourty-five thousand tons of sand, in an area of fifteen thousand square meters. An exclusive place composed of true artistic works and endowed with a unique architectural beauty. The city is magical, more than an exhibition of sculptures, it is a sensorial experience that is worth a visit. The attribution of the status of "sand city" is not only the concept developed, the organization of space, but also the quantity of sculptures that exists in this city and which amount to hundreds. At the time of the festival Sand City offers a range of activities related to sand sculpture, workshops and demonstrations on sculpting technique, video projections, amusement equipment, a shop, a snack bar, a fish spa and a cultural agenda.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, we (2 mature adults) thought the sculptures were amazing and were fascinated by sheer size of each one and the attention to detail is incredible. It amazed us how much work must go into designing and making each sculpture. How on earth do they preserve them for the whole season, especially against wind, rain and the extreme heat of summer?
My overall favourite has to be Noddy in his car - I loved it and even now 2 months later, picturing it still makes me smile!

We just love this beach!
So much to offer.
Can walk as far as Armacao de Pera where there are nice beach bars and restaurants too.
Beach bars open in the season all the way along the beach
Beautiful sand and safe bathing
Great to watch the surfers when the waves are big
Lovely to sit in a sheltered spot to watch the world go by.
Behind the beach is a board walk amongst the sand dunes.
Further along is a nudist beach which may not appeal to some!

Took my 10yr old daughter to this park and she loved every minute of it. Sonya her instructor was so attentive and caring and really helped my daughter feel at ease as she had never done it before, she was ziplining through the forest, climbing trees, running through nets and walking over wobbly planks and she had such a fun time. The staff are so lovely and attentive and she was allowed to go round the course as many times as she wished. Really reasonably priced activity and such a fun way for kids ( and adults) to get back to nature in this beautiful place. We would definitely return.

Aqualand Algarve

Reviewed By Ellapbfm - Leeds, UK

We've just spent two days of a week long holiday here - we loved it! I researched the best Water Park for younger children as ours are 2 and 1 and so it seemed the best option and it was fantastic! We got the 241 adult entry and kids under 5 are free so it cost us a 27€ to get in plus 7€ for a locker on day one. There is a good selection of rides for all of the family. We arrived early and there were no queues but by the time we left at 4ish each day the queues were longer so I'd definitely recommend getting there early and getting the 'bigger' slides done. The kids area was fantastic with a variety of slides for all ages. We took lunch with us both days so cannot comment on food. We found umbrellas that didn't have sun loungers so just used these for shade with towels. We also used the 'Come back for 8€' offer so we felt we had really good value days out which the kids all loved. We found the staff to be relaxed about lesser able swimmers using slides, there definitely seemed to be very young children using slides I wouldn't let my son go on yet - kids being hooked out the pools by lifeguards left right and centre! Not a reflection on Aqualand, more on parents!
Whilst the kids are still young and it is good value I would definitely return if in the Algarve.

There is really not much to the church. You can look through the window but no entrance. It is really very, very small. But the surroundings can be breathtaking particularly at sunrise. The sun comes up and hits the little white church and it's very pretty. But the cliffs, oh, they are gorgeous. There are all sorts of colors only seen when the sun is shining so strongly directly on them. It's worth getting up early to see it at least once. And it's easier to find a parking space. Along the road near the little church there are snack shops and occasionally entertainment on the little stage beside the road. Usually American music such as Elvis or country.

We weren't sure what to expect after Reading this was a nature reserve. What we found was a fantastic location for a family outing. The beach is endless and has golden sand running out into a shallow surf. Perfect for our adventurous 6 year old and his new body board. The cafe is clean and has friendly staff. It also has nice tidy showers for 1 euro. The boardwalk into the nature reserve was perfect for cooling off when we visited with a breeze coming off the water.

Capela dos Ossos

Reviewed By RockMeAsmodeus - Southport, United Kingdom

While travelling back to Faro airport, having stayed in Lagos, we decided to visit FIESA on the way back. We also took a brief detour to the nearby Capela dos Ossos in Alcantarilha. It's not super easy to find, Google Maps is accurate, but it's down a pedestrian side street and is not obviously signposted. Find the church and walk around the side.
It's a tiny chapel - very tiny. More than two people probably can't fit in at once, but it's a cool, if macabre out-of-the-way sight. Hundreds of skulls have been piled on top of one another. Entry is free, though there is a donation box.
It's nowhere near as large or impressive as the Sedlec Ossuary in Czech Republic, but a worthwhile detour if you're in the area.

Real Picadeiro is a special place for horse lovers. A nice infrastructure, a cool indoor riding arena and a spacious outdoor arena (20x60m) allows wonderful Horse Shows and riding lessons.
You can just enjoy one of their shows with the beautiful Lusitano-Stallions and historical costumes or get riding lessons from beginner to experienced in the fine art of classic dressage. My horse and i made remarkable progress thanks to the lessons.
