Hidden away in the quaint Algarve village of Porches, Porches Velho is worth seeking out for high quality food and a secluded country setting looking out to the Monchique Mountains. Housed in a 210-year-old wine cellar, Porches Velho has retained original features in the open plan dining room, including the wooden beams criss-crossing the 5-metre-high ceiling and the latticed windows that fill the room with the beautiful sunlight of the Algarve. The Terrace is a splendid place to dine in the summer, whilst the wood fire in the hearth keeps the dining room warm in the winter. Surrounded by rustic farm tools and the huge aquarium of brightly coloured fish, you can enjoy a menu rich in Portuguese specialities, all prepared with quality produce and crafted by owner Sr. Candeias, who successfully fronted the renowned A Lanterna restaurant in Parchal for 25 years. Fresh, not farmed, the fish served at Porches Velho includes Smoked Swordfish. You can also try the popular Medallions of Black Pork with chestnuts and sweet potatoes, as well as Rabbit, Fish Cataplana and succulent steaks. There is a range of traditional desserts and all dishes can be complemented by a selection from the Portuguese wine list, offering something from all areas of the country. Friday night is Fado Night at Porches Velho and this is the most entertaining time to dine, with traditional, soulful Portuguese music playing whilst you enjoy your meal. Private and spacious with plenty of indoor and outdoor Seating, Porches Velho is an ideal venue for groups and celebrations and has hosted several successful wedding receptions.
Excellent service. Sunday roast special was impressive, and very good value at £16. Chicken, roast potatoes, lots of veggies and Yorkshire pudding too! The red cabbage was a nice extra. My friend found some space for a pudding and would recommend the treacle tart.
It’s not easy to park in Stow. We found a space on the road.

This restaurant is always our first stop when visiting Alcantarilha. The villlage centre setting is lovely, and the food always excellent. I usually go for the Sea Bream (Dorada), and my man the Swordfish, and it is always delicious. The home made fish paste served as an appetizer is amazing too. Helpings are large so we don't take a starter. Sitting on the Terrace watching the world go by and the house martins feeding their chicks in the nursery on the local buildings is always a delight.

The Raj Indian Restaurant located in the Holiday Inn, Armação de Pêra has a fabulous location overlooking the ocean and has established an excellent reputation for great food and service. Enjoy an evening of authentic Indian cuisine whilst watching the sun set on the horizon and choose your favourite dishes, cooked just the way you prefer. During the summer months dinner may be served on the Terrace or in the cool of the restaurant.
Staying in Holiday Inn next door so we thought we would try Restaurant..Atmosphere was good and staff friendly..One point that stood out that there was three of us and all our main meals were spoilt by being too salty..Such a shame..Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the atmosphere and found our staff friendly, however, we are very sorry to read that you found your food salty, and will investigate this further. Kindest regards Vicki Good

Ocean Restaurant is VILA VITA Parc Resort & Spa's fine dining signature restaurant, established in the southernmost region of Portugal, the Algarve. Austrian Executive Chef Hans Neuner - named Portugal's Chef of the Year 2009 & 2012 - and his team have been awarded Two Michelin Stars since 2011. Every dinner at Ocean restaurant is a sensorial experience, always with breathtaking views over the Atlantic ocean. The Ocean Restaurant is located at the VILA VITA Parc Resort & Spa, part of the VILA VITA Hotels group.
Slowly i was getting used to going to a Michelin rated restaurant and had to experience ups and downs which not always confirmed the rating they had. So i actually was expecting not too much when i visited Ocean. How wrong i was!
The dishes served wowwed me and my partner, great taste and splendid presentation , leaving me puzzled how they could make it like that. Together with a very good service with attention for detail confirmed that in this case Michelin was absolutely right. I would make a d-tour for this restaurant.

Every year we make a booking and arrive here, fairly early in the evening. I discuss the various diets amongst the family while booking, and the chef minds this in his cooking. We have vegetarian, nut free, and sometimes a vegan amongst us,but this is never a problem.
Food is beautifully presented, delicious and the staff attentive, together this makes a "must go" visit every year.
Please don't change O Leao de Porches.

After Reading all the really positive reviews here on TripAdvisor we were really looking forward to some great food.
Parking is tight but ample with large car parks behind the resturant.
We walked in and requested a table for 4. We were offered a table inside or 'outside' (this is a large lean-to type of extension rather than actually outside). We chose the lean-to. We ate at 19:30 and it was fairly quiet. The restaurant is quite large and deceptive from the outside.
Despite quite a few reviews stating no menu was provided, we were presented with one, albeit very simple.
Everyone goes there for the chicken obviously. We all ordered half a chicken with either rice or chip and a large mixed salad.
The service was fairly quick. The quality of the food was quite disappointing. Half a chicken, portion wise does not compare to UK Nando's. The meat was almost fried and barely tasted of Piri Piri. One of the family ordered plain and there was barely any difference. The portion of fries that came (on a single platter) didn't seem quite enough for the three that ordered fries either. The salad was ok!!
Choice of Deserts were quite standard for Portugal as you would expect. We ordered three Almond tarts and a chocolate tart. Only two almond tarts arrived (served like school dinners and almost thrown on the table) with a comment of 'only two almond tart' while just walking away!! It was as if he was waiting to see who would fight over the two portions. Not even a thought about asking what we would like in replacement. We had to call over another waiter and order the missing dessert, that took ages to arrive!
All in all, not a fantastic experience.

Typical Portuguese cuisine, cooked to order and fresh handmade fries.
Lovely small restaurant with cheerful owners. Didn't have to wait too long for our tasty food. Managed to get a table outside which was lucky on a warm evening!! Would recommend this restaurant.

Went here for supper in this very busy restaurant and had a lovely meal, in nice surroundings with friendly service- and a reasonable bill.
We had fantastic grilled prawns in piri piri as shared starter, then chicken piri piri and pork medallions as our mains- both very good and I wont be going to Ramires again for chicken piri piri.

Italian Pizzeria , Pizza & Pasta, we work with fresch ingrediente.
This place really is a gem; we went back three times and, every time, it was busy when everywhere else was quiet and we could see why. The welcome is superb, the staff and management are genuinely glad to see you and they were knowledgeable and helpful about ingredients and special diets which we really appreciated. The food was excellent. Very highly recommended. Thank you to our lovely waiters.

Our annual supper here- always excellent. Grilled mackerel, sea bass, sea bream, halibut, salmon, squid- tomatoes salad, bread and potatoes for 14 euros. The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked- just salted and grilled. You can ask for more of any of the varieties. Huge crème caramel or fruit for dessert. Communal tables. Simple but enjoyable. Good staff
