There is really not much to the church. You can look through the window but no entrance. It is really very, very small. But the surroundings can be breathtaking particularly at sunrise. The sun comes up and hits the little white church and it's very pretty. But the cliffs, oh, they are gorgeous. There are all sorts of colors only seen when the sun is shining so strongly directly on them. It's worth getting up early to see it at least once. And it's easier to find a parking space. Along the road near the little church there are snack shops and occasionally entertainment on the little stage beside the road. Usually American music such as Elvis or country.

We visited several other pottery shops in the area and the quality at Porches Pottery is exceptionally high. Beautiful patterns and a wide selection of handmade pottery. The shopkeepers were very helpful, in particular by working with us to ship our selections to the U.S. Shipping is very expensive, but the prices are so reasonable that even with the shipping cost, we thought everything was a fair bargain. Also, there is a very nice cafe right in the building with the shop. The proprietor was friendly and the food was good.

One of my favorite Beaches in the Algarve. It is not as packed as other ones, no hawkers on the beach which is really great.
Spectacular scenery with the rock formations.
The water can be a bit rough so if you are not a strong swimmer, take a little care.

Went in the off season. Lots of stairs to go down before hitting the beach. We were told there was a door that leads to the next beach. We walked the whole beach which is not that big. We found an opening in the wall and wondered if that was the doorway. You have to be fit to climb up to the doorway. It turned out to be a long tunnel that takes you into the next beach, which is much larger. There are lots of sea shells and openings where animals could dwell. If it is a nice day, try to get around the rocks when the tide is out and you can walk up to Porches, about 15 minutes. It takes you back around to where you started.

In a typical old farmhouse, we produce functional pottery, tiles and prints with local themes such as olives, lemons and sardines. Although using traditional craft techniques, the design of the work is fresh and contemporary. The studio shop is open to the public all year round.
LOVED this little treasure cove. The owner produces his beautiful bowls, tiles, plates, cups, dishes etc. presumably by process which has been existing for centuries on, yet then designs with a very modern touch. You won't see any traditional leaves and flowers here, but cool...MoreI was very pleased to read your description. 'Traditional' yet 'contemporary'. That's really what we're aiming to do here. Thanks for taking the time to write a cool review.

Beach of our Lady of the Rock Porches Portugal is very close to a Fort of Nossa Sehora da Rock and a Chapel.
Mostly it is a small crowded beach, occasionally the chapel is the destination of pilgrimages and annual processions. The festival day associated with the first Sunday of August.
During the religious processions the image of the Virgin is taken from the fort, down to the beach.

Since we live in Lisbon, we never thought we would travel like this within Portugal, but an opportunity came by from a friend that had hired ATD to transfer her from Lisbon to the Algarve, and so we ended up doing this journey with them.
We've done the trip between Lisbon and Faro over 100 times during the past 4 years and this was by far the best!
The car is immaculate and roomy, the driving very safe, and most importantly, Carlos and Elisabete are extremely nice!
If you're visiting the Algarve and are in need of a transfer service, we seriously doubt you could find a better one!

The Praia do Barranco is a wonderful beach with crystal clear water. Quite frequently medium waves come in here.
Snorkeling is definitely possible and a lot of fun.
At this beach also called the hippy beach a certain kind of camper type settle down. Either they put up their tents right on the beach or they settle down with their campers along the road close to the beach.
The atmosphere is relaxed but we got a bit disturbed by the odors around this beach ... there is no infrastructure and so the beach dwellers free themselves up in Mother Nature which at 30 degrees causes interesting nose favors.
Coming here you should not be disturbed by pot smokers or skinny dippers either.
Surely for families the beach further down called Praia da Ingrina is definitely the better choice due to some more infrastructure and the increased family feeling.
