Colne /kɒln/ is a town and civil parish in Lancashire, England, six miles north-east of Burnley, 25 miles east of Preston, 25 miles north of Manchester and 30 miles west of Leeds. It is a market town and the cross allowing a market to be held there dates to the 15th century. The cross was originally at the junction of Colne Lane and Church Street. It was first moved to the grounds of The Gables on Albert Road, the location of Colne Library until around 1970. It has now been relocated to outside the Market Hall on Market Street, part of the main road through the town centre.

Has ruins of Wycoller Hall and old Bridges across the beck which may be 1000 years od. The village has been restored and is between Colne and Haworth and the Hall is thought to feature as Ferndean Manor in Jane Eyre.
Hard to get too. People who live there dont like you going. It has a cafe type thing but the people who live there dont like you. Most of it is empty cottages for holiday let. Why would you holiday there? There is nought there only old stones and a fallen down old house. Oh! and some little stone bridge things over a stream. It is not friendly at all and I dont like it.

See the world's only working steam powered weaving mill bring the past to life. A rare chance to re-live the days when steam ran the world!
Fabulous. A room full of machines..which still work. Lots of different types of machines doing different jobs...all working and demonstrated. The huge steam engine on top floor comes on several times a day. This generates the power needed to work the main weaving machines. The noise is tremendous.. hard to imagine how it must have been working there.
Nice little cafe and shop too. Very reasonably priced. We loved it.

Great little centre with a value for money tour which includes DVD showing of the Pendle Witch Trials. Lovely cafe inside with a good choice of snacks and drinks.
The Centre is next to Barrowford Park which has a variety of playground rides for children and exercise apparatus for both young and old. Plenty of grass area for picnics and some nice little shops in Barrowford itself.

At £18 per head for two hours it seems a little pricey for what it is.
A nice spa though clientele can be odd, someone was even using the Spa with a mobile phone in hand when I was there recently!
Being in Nelson, not the most salubrious town in the world, then it can be a bit hit and miss. Notably closed on a Monday

Site of 17th-century witch trials.
Great country pub we have been there a few times now. We went there again on New Year Day to celebrate our Son birthday. Delicious dishes in a fantastic environment and impeccable service. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit. It's perfect place for either a special evening meal or a snack/drink after a long walk up Pendle Hill. BTW this pub is Dog friendly.

Just experienced the Christmas Adventure with my nearly 3 year old Grandson.....it was so magical!
We had a lovely lady 'Eskimo' as our guide who was an excellent host too.....the Mulled Wine was a lovely touch for the adults! The 'experience' lasted almost 1hr 45 mins and was worth every penny, very well thought out, moving from area to area based around a tale of helping Santa.....who I'm almost sure was the real deal he was that good! The ride up to the Reindeers was bone shakingly exciting too....
Something to suit all ages with a very generous gift at the end. No criticisms, just a job really well done by your team (every staff member we met was very pleasant and chatty.....a credit to you!) which has left a lasting impression with a very excited little boy who hasn't stopped talking about it! See you next year!!

I passed this statue in the village as I passed through it as part of my effort to complete the Pendle Way circular walk (46 miles). I thought 'there's a statue !' - but it didn't set my any of mysenses on fire ... or maybe even stir them in anyway - that said maybe it's me who should have made more of an effort to have a good look at it - anyway it's a nice statue.

This was my first visit and was very surprised by its layout. Started with a visit to the tearoom for morning coffee. Excellent with very pleasant staff who couldn't do enough for us. Browsed the shopping area and was able to buy quite a few Christmas presents. Cashiers very polite and helpful. All in all a very pleasant visit.

On the plus side, a wide variety of goods for sale and for men a good selection of clothes etc. Didn’t see any bargains as such as prices seem similar to department stores eg Wranglers about the same price as Debenhams.
Decent car park with lots of spaces ( I went on a weekday though).
Only tried the coffee shop, definitely lacking in atmosphere and the cappuccino was both bland and weak. Not cheap either but didn’t expect that really.
Overall, worth a visit but if you like decent coffee, leave out the coffee shop.
