This beach is for walking, laughing and launching your boat rather than for bathing in May. I did not see any bathers so that tended to make the point.
We really loved seeing the couples with their dogs eagerly bounding up and down the beach and the families enjoying the good weather and a great walk on the beach.
This is not a white sand beach as the sands are likely volcanic in nature. That does not diminish the fun though.
We also loved the views at either end of the bay that rise up to a cliff face.
There is a great Park for kids right next to the beach,

JUMP is a spring-loaded urban playground with a range of activities for everyone to enjoy. JUMP is made up of hundreds of square metres of interlocking trampolines covering the floor space and going up the walls. We also have a 20ft foam pit area to JUMP into from a set of 'runway' trampolines, a trampoline dodgeball court and other fun accessories like a basketball hoop for extreme dunking. Suitable for all ages, regardless of your skill/fitness level JUMP caters for everyone. This is all made safe with soft landing surfaces, lots of padding and gymnastic grade foam creating a platform to burn energy while having the most fun you can possibly imagine.
We took our 2 grandchildren aged 6 and 3 here for an hour and were impressed with the standard of cleanliness and safety. Lots of "court monitors" in evidence to keep the older children from getting too exuberant but also willing to play with the younger ones, making sure everyone enjoyed themselves in a safe way. The safety briefing at the beginning is compulsory before the start of the session each hour so you need to arrive at least 10 minutes early. Sessions start on the hour. Adults may also up with young children but everyone is required to purchase/wear special socks, thus ensuring the cleanliness of the trampolines. The very large space is sections for various levels of activities. 1 pm seems a good time to go - we found it very quiet with less than about 30 children so lots of space to play. Highly recommended (not 5 stars because of the price of the water)

Canoe & Kayak Advntures offers a variety of sea kayak training and tours in an area that is one of Auckland's best kept secrets. Our guided tours operate just 20 minutes from Downtown Auckland. The Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife and historic sites. Stingray frequent the bay to feed, and resident rays Mertyl and Turtle are usually the first to pop by to say hello. The bay is also home to a number of rare sea birds, like the NZ Dotterel, the variable oystercatcher and the Godwit. We also cater to groups with tours to the historic Riverhead Tavern & Puhoi settlements.
A friend and I went on the Bioluminescence Tour with guides Todd and Olivia. It was absolutely amazing! I'm not a huge fan of water but our guides made me feel very comfortable. Both guides were very knowledgeable and made the experience memorable. I would...MoreThanks Freya, I am glad we helped with your water confidence, and that you got out there and had a great time Todd

Auckland's Sky Tower is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, this tower is more than 300 metres high. Offering stunning views, along with award winning restaurants, a gift shop and an opportunity to push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above Auckland's CBD.
The Sky Tower was a great experience. The lifts were readily available and quick. The glass panel in the floor was a good touch. The views from the viewing platforms were superb. They keep you informed when and if there is anyboby going to do the jump. We were fortunate and got a couple of great shots of someone in mid air. Noit overly expensive and well worth a visit.

There are a number of Auckland Night Markets on different nights and different venues. I do not know if the stall holders are the same in each location. There was a HUGE selection of 'street food' vendors with great looking variety's. There were Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Lebanese and Jamaican street foods available. The markets start about 17:30 through to 23:00. Well worth tracking one down at least to have a good selection of foods with a difference.

The newest venue in the Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA) family, North Harbour stadium is located in the centre of the North Shore Domain in Albany.
Went to the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier yesterday v New Caledonia at North Harbour - pathetic organisation from the start. An international match should attract at least 20 000 people so the QBE stadium holding 25 000 should have been perfect but the total lack of advertising and perhaps the ticket price ($30) coupled with the lack of liaising with local schools to get schoolboy footballers there at a cheap rate meant that the 'crowd' was a paltry 8100. Only one stand was used and the two areas behind the goal and the stand opposite the main stand were all empty - absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever.
And with a stadium less than a third full you expect there'd be no need to queue - but nothing worked efficiently. Gate H into the west side of the main stand had a ten minute queue 45 minutes before kick-off because of checking bags and having just two scanners working. The queue for food seemed to be a good twenty minutes. How can everything work so well at Eden Park for a maximum 48 000 crowd but not here for just 8100?

Treat or Treatment, we've got you back! Dedicated Massage Therapy Centre in the heart of Mairangi Bay Village. Relaxation, Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Stress Management, Anxiety, Pain Management, Improve Performance, Health Maintenance. We listen to what you require on the day.
Visiting the area and needed a massage. Paula took the time to listen to my concerns. The treatment was right on - deep tissue with trigger point relief where needed. She didn’t rush the massage, spent time in the areas that needed extra attention. I wish I had found her earlier in my trip. Highly recommended.
