10 Things to Do in Benalmadena That You Shouldn't Miss

November 22, 2017 Jeremy Dunfee

While most visitors choose Benalmadena for its glorious beaches, there are plenty of other attractions to keep your family amused. Take a trip out to sea on a boat or a ferry; you can even go whale and dolphin watching. A cable car ride would make a welcome change, or perhaps a visit to Bil Bil Castle. The castle is distinctive with its Arabian architecture, and it hosts concerts as well as art exhibitions. Visit the Sea Life Centre, where you can walk through the transparent tunnels in the underwater park or watch feeding demonstrations; the centre even has a mini golf course. At the end of a relaxing day, Benalmadena becomes a great place for nightlife. Whatever kind of cuisine you are looking for, you are sure to find a restaurant that will suit your family's tastes.

If you are staying in the Benalmadena area & you have no problem with cable cars/ heights do not miss this attraction. Excellent from start to finish. The staff are very knowledgeable & the commentator/falconer is witty and entertaining, explaining everything in perfect English. We had a snack in the restaurant & we bought a souvenir photo (no pressure) & we didn't feel ripped off at all. Great value for money. Thanks to all staff. You are doing a great job of conserving & breeding such beautiful birds.

Benalmadena Pueblo (The Old Village)

If you want to get away from the largely modern coastline with high rise apartment blocks and hotels to a more traditional Spanish environment, then make sure you visit the Pueblo. Largely intact as a traditional Andalusian village, it has a surprisingly high number of very good restaurants and cafes. And the views from the high point of the church are fabulous.

We have visited this Plaza several times and it always stays the same TRANQUIL. Just to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet is heaven. There are two or three restaurants here which always seem busy but not noisy and plenty of seats to sit and watch the world go by before you explore the rest of the village.

We took the cable car to the top and thoroughly enjoyed our day. The scenery going up, coming down and while at the top is amazing. We felt very safe. We walked several of the paths at the top and everywhere we looked....amazing.
We stayed for the falconry demonstration at 1:00 p.m. and we’re so glad we did. The staff do an amazing job with the birds and there is a lot of interaction with the patrons.
We highly recommend Teleferico Cable Car Benalmádena!

Benalmadena Puerto Marina

Located on the Costa del Sol, has proven itself as being one of the top Marinas in the world. With many restaurants, shopping, attractions and nightlife. It has won the award "Best Marina in the World' several times. The Marina of Benalmadena officially opened in 1979, with the name "Port au Prince" but in1982 was named Puerto Marina Benalmadena. The thing that really stands out about the marina is its unique architecture/design, which has lead to its international recognition especially with our European tourists. Puerto Marina has a huge capacity to moor boats and yachts, with just over 1,000 moorings for boats from many different nationalities.  'Puerto Marina' is one of the Costa del Sol's busiest centres. There are loads of different shops including the shopping centre. On top of it all there is a large choice of quality restaurants. You are spoiled for choice. Fancy a drink or a dance? Or how about hitting a nightclub or pub?

I first passed this "Castle" in 1987 when Martin first started this task, every year I would stop and look as I passed going up to the Village and slowly but surely it turned into what is now a true work of Art. The have booklets in all different languages and entrance is very cheap. Make sure you take the time to visit and marvel at this magnificent tribute to Christopher Columbus.

Caravahal is a short stroll, or train journey from wither Benalmadena and fuelgirola. The village is a holiday place, with a quieter set of beachfront bars and shops. If you want a slightly slower pace of life, but with all the conveniences, then this is a good start.
