I went to the 'Canyon de l'Artigue' with a group of friends and we had a great time there. Even though it was my first time doing it, Stephane made a very good job explaining us the technique and all that was necessary in advance to reassure us. So in the end, I didn't feel scared at all, but only challenged, what made the experience an unforgettable one. (The only thing I didn't dare to do was to jump from the highest height... but I guess I had to leave something for the next time! :)).
The reception was also nice (they received us with coffe and juice), and both Stephane and Delphine were really helpful during the whole descent. Delphine even vonlunteered to take pictures of us and sent them a couple of days later for free. All in all it is a highly recommended experience. I will definately repeat.

This is by far the best riding centre I have ever been to (and that is quite a few!) We went at a time when the wolves had lost their winter coat so looked a little skinny but this didn't detract from their presence. The keeper's talk was informative as we watched the Canadian wolves feed and then we had time to walk through the woods to see other types of wolves. These were harder to spot and the warm, sunny day may not have helped. The Arctic wolves were active but we missed the others. In the woods are well designed information trails and a delightful listening circle where little ones can hear fairy tales about wolves. A domesticated animal enclosure and three enthusiastic piglets went some way to make up for the lack of wolves. There is somewhere to have a meal and of course some wolf souvenirs.

At 17 euros for two hours, the baths are very good value - especially when compared to nearby Andorra! There are several pools of different temperatures - I recommend the outside ones, where you can relax and look up at the spectacular peaks of the Pyrenees (shrouded in wonderful autumn colours when we visited). The main room is built on a Roman design but there is also a hammam, a sauna and a steam room to enjoy.

Directions, go to Orlu and carry straight on past the EdF place, car park is on the right hand side.
It closes at 6pm, but the last ticket is at 3pm, so plan your trip ahead of time.
€23 per adult.
After you pay you go and get your kit and have a demo, and very small practice. You are then sent on your way.
Warning - they do not speak any English. All the demo instructions are in French, if you only speak English, there is some very brief written instructions, but basically you have to work it out for yourself!
Before you pay, go and have a look and see if it what you want to do. It is quite challenging and high. If you are at all unsure, don't pay, as they never ever give refunds!
You also don't sign anything to say that you've read the terms and conditions - which are also in French. Your attention is also not drawn to the terms and conditions!
There is only one safety person walking around. If you were in need of assistance/ fell/ want to get down, to get their attention is almost impossible, and you could be stuck for quite a long time. This is definitely understaffed
My partner decided not to do the course, after stepping onto the first challenge, and they wouldn't give her any money back. The only compensation we were offered was 2 cans of cola.
I completed the course. It is good fun, great views over the Waterfalls, and definitely a challenge.
We've only scored it 2 stars, because of the poor customer service, lack of foreign language ability, safety aspects, only objective was to make money - not give a rewarding customer experience.
The owner also told us of a recent accident, so they had to tighten up on safety.... It would have got 1, but the location was good.
Would l do it again - here, no.
Such a shame, as it's in a great spot.

Orlu valley is located in Haute Ariege in the Pyrenees, in the heart of the Valleys of Ax. Ideally located 5km from Ax les Thermes and Andorra foot, it offers an exceptional natural mountain environment, accessible and préservé.Vous are curious by nature? Do you like outdoor sports? You are looking for moods and sensations mountain? Valley is for you
If you are tired of being burned in summer this is your fridge. All the Orlu valley seems to have his own weather, but take care, in the Mountains you can expect cold temperatures and sudden thunderstorms. The municipal camping has swimingpool and offers croisants and bread in the morning

In summer beneath the canopies of large trees a timeless charm exudes from Ax Les Thermes. In winter it was peeled back, glimpses of its Belle Epoch heyday were still possible but the new architecture - or lack of style - struggles with the old and now decaying grand buildings in a graceless fashion. That said, such is far less so than nearby Andorra, an aesthetic disaster devoid of soul ...

We've now enjoyed 3 years skiing in Ax. We've seen improvements to the ski slopes each year and we feel that it is a great place to ski. We are a family with 2 kids age 11 and 14, both have learnt to ski here and we enjoy our week long holiday staying locally in Ax Les Thermes. It is a lovely town with enough restaurants and bars, plus the wonderful Baths which we try and use at least once.
Up at the Ski station, there are ample restaurants and good ski hire shops. The rental prices are very good and the staff very friendly.
The gondola runs smoothly from the town to the ski station. There are often quests to come back down at the end of the day, but they move quickly and are well managed.
We have noticed that English is not so commonly spoken as it may be in other areas of France, but we always get by with a little help!

Petite halte sur AX, une petite ruelle tranquille, une vitrine qui invite à faire une pause. Un accueil sympathique mais surtout de bons cocktails...
