Situated in the middle of town with both inside and outside eating. Caters for big parties but you would need to book and be on time Good food with great service The burgers sold out early when we visited

Had dinner here as our B&B host suggested it. The menu is "very french" with local specialities (eg. Trout). We ordered the fixed price menu for €15. The food was excellent - the chèvre-stuffed pepper salad, for example, was superb. Had the cassoulet for the main course and it was copious and delicious. For dessert we went for the creme brûlée and it was also a 9.5 out of 10. The only problem was that getting served was a hit-and-miss affair. Some tables got through 3 courses in 60 minutes but it took us 2.5 hours. The restaurant appears to be well supported by locals and of course, knowing the proprietor, they seemed to get a bit more attention. We wanted to go back again but couldn't be bothered with spending all that time. If you are not in a hurry and in good company, go for it. Otherwise go somewhere else!

I had a fantastic piece of local lamb and we ordered the chocolate fondue at the same time. It came with brilliant fresh fruit - the only problem was the huge portions! Great service and a must if you are in the town.

We enjoy our winter holidays in Ax les Thermes and a restaurant we can thoroughly recommend is the comptoir des negociants 4 place roussel 09119 ax les thermes. In addition we holiday with friends who are vegiterian and the restaurant proprietor mr Franc Gros will accomodate their requirements.
Eating here is not to be missed.

Hidden away in a back street in Ax les Thermes is this lovely little creperie. The gallettes are really a savoury crepe wrap with the most delightful ingredients - I had The Catalane which was filled with egg, cheese and a light chorizo and it was beautiful. The homemade tomato sauce that accompanied this was a real treat - none of the usual bottled mass produced red slop you often get. This has been prepared perfectly and added much to what would have been a lovely gallette, even without it.
There are seats outside at the front, some in a small courtyard at the rear or if you prefer, inside. As with all eateries in Ax les Thermes, dont expect this place to be open all day - the locals do like their siestas!!

Lovely setting with very friendly staff. We had a great selection of tapas to start with. Paella was ordered in our group and they loved it. We had the Zarzuela...seafood casserole with potatoes. Wow...it was delicious, fresh and huge. Washed down with a great selection of beers and sangria. Desserts were from a variety dishes on offer. The cafe liégois was delicious although a little too sweet for my taste.

We had the 'Quatre Saisons' pizza from here, it was loaded with vegetables, really tasty and only €11 for a large, which fed two adults after a day's skiing. This is a very friendly take away and we highly recommend it. We even had a drink in the bar next door while waiting the 20 mins for it to be ready. Perfect!

Just 2 doors down from the higher-rated and much larger Grand Cafe, but we liked this place. Everything was good after a long day in the Mountains. Service was efficient and friendly. The desserts were good as well, especially the pear sorbet.

This is posh French nosh, beautifully cooked and presented.
Welcome / waiter - Welcoming and polite staff, who were attentive at the table.
Food - The food was very well presented and delicious. The steak was incredible and I'd recommend you to try it.
Cost - Two people eating, 1 three course and 1 two course, drinks at €81
Location - Easy to find, with free parking on the street around it. Well located next to the river, so during the day, the views are lovely.
Rooms - They have bedrooms as well but these were not seen.
Language - Visited with my French girlfriend, so she had to translate everything. Menus were only in French and no other language options.
Toilets - These were clean and near reception.
Just to help you, the bill will be at the reception and you also pay at the reception, they don't bring the bill to the table.
My one criticism is that there was no atmosphere. You were afraid to make a noise or even talk slightly loudly. This might be more to do with the French culture than the restaurant. My kids are very well behaved in restaurants, but l would not have taken them here. This is a really some thing to fix for them, unless they like it this way.
Would we go again - the food was delicious, but the lack of atmosphere was tough.

This place is a very popular place for an apres ski drink. We also shared their cheese and charcuterie platter which included pickles, chutney, salad and bread, well worth a try if you're a little peckish. Hardly a seat left in the place by the time we left about 6pm!
