Having enjoyed the "Action Reaction" menu last year, we had no hesitation in revisiting it with our son and his girlfriend. It did not disappoint, offering a range of exceptionally delightful taste experiences. The staff were again extremely helpful and attentive and we would recommend a visit without a second though. A truly wonderful experience and quite possibly our best meal in France to-date.

Very unusual Restauant . We ate 2 other fine restaurants in Carcassone. Very fine but typical. this is on the edge of town in a weird housin development by train tracks, looks like a remodeled home with pool in front. Inside decorated mix of modern black white and lots of glass. We found it very romantic in a quirky way. Food was also beautifully prepared, as gorgeous as in a 2 star Restauant but at a bargain price of 32 E for 4 courses! Food was wonderful except my steak with foie gras truffle sauce was a bit tough. Everything else superb. Great evening.

This Michelin starred restaurant has an atmosphere of charm and grace, with views towards the hotel Gardens and the ramparts of Carcassonne.

La Barbacane offers a wide range of tempting dishes, created with imagination, flair and artistry by Executive Chef Jerome Ryon.
Despite the fact that La Barbacane lost a Michelin star beginning of 2017, this restau-rant is still the absolute top in Carcassonne. Maybe Michelin has judged that 3 Michel-in star restaurants in a city of 50.000 inhabitants is excessive ?
I've made a reservation at La Barbacane for the 3 course lunch (39 euro/pp), including 2 glasses of wine, water and coffee … exactly 1 euro extra than 3 years ago. Visit the website of La Barbacane, make your reservation for free and receive your confirma-tion in seconds.
Stylish and elegant restaurant of Hotel de la Cité, the very best hotel and restaurant between the City Walls. Inside or outside dining. Impeccable service and high quality food. The lunch menu changes every 2 weeks (see website). You can make your choice between 3 starters, 3 main courses and 3 desserts. Take your coffee and your 3 coffee amuses outside at the courtyard of the hotel (if weather permits).
A glass of champagne L.P. + 3 amuses before your lunch : 15€ (not included in lunch price).

We ate outdoors in the peaceful walled sunken courtyard. Service was good and the food first rate. Lamb was really excellent and particularly enjoyed the wine: Chateau Ollieux Romanis-Classique. Not impressed by some of the restaurant’s responses to diners who weren’t totally happy though!

Yes, people were out standing in the street, waiting to get into this wonderful little restaurant. There is a huge selection of savoury crepes and they are so beautifully presented and delicious. Even the side salad comes in a little cup-shaped crepe. The waiter was friendly and it was amazing to see him manage the whole restaurant on his own. Don't miss it!

Went to the restaurant with friends who recommended we try there. Beautiful setting at the top of a hill, with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside - as we looked out of the window, La Cité at Carcassonne was picked out in the setting sun - amazing ! A log fire was set up whilst we had our pre dinner drinks, sitting in a large lounge which adjoined the dining room.
There was a set menu, served and explained by our hostess and chef, which was beautifully cooked and presented and very much enjoyed by all 4 of us ; we chose local wines to accompany the meal which complimented the whole experience.
A really great evening !

We visited this place based on trip advisor reviews. Wondered where we were headed at times as we walked out of town but then we came across this busy restaurant. Food was beautiful - lasagna and fish mains followed by desert. Local wine was good. Would really recommend it- away from the commercial hustle and bustle of Carcasonne.

New restaurant which is part of Chateau Palaja, but under separate management
We had dinner here as we were staying next door at Chateau Palajas. Not sure you would easily find this place otherwise.
The food and service was first class and we were well looked after. There is good choice of food and they were able to cater for children.
Everything was nicely presented and good flavours. We chose three course fixed menus €30 - €37. If there was a criticism it was just too much food. The portions were generous and endless bread.
The setting is smart and peaceful and not too many covers. Highly recommended.

Spotted this great place on tripadvisor when researching our break to Carcassonne.
We have visited a few Breweries and Distilleries, but this was our first vineyard tour and we weren't disappointed.
Joe welcomed us on arrival and soon had a glass of wine in our hands as we sat on the patio in glorious Sunshine looking out towards the Pyrennes Mountains.
He described what brought him to France, and how his dream of owning his own vineyard led him to this region. We found him extremely down to earth and very knowledgeable as he guided us round his winery. Needless to say there were plenty of tastings, and he described in great detail how each was arrived at, the operation of all the machinery and the storing etc. We found the whole tour fascinating and then we were taken back to the house for our meal. Joe's wife Liz prepares and serves the food and again we were not disappointed. Beef, pork, baked potato and my wife's favourite were the little savoury tarts followed by a delicious crumble dessert. Liz also described everything she served, and it was obvious she takes great pride in what she does. We shared our table with 3 other guests, and Joe sat with us with during the meal and again described each wine we tried. The conversation, the food and the wine made for a great afternoons craic.
You can finished off your tour by browsing his wine list and gifts. Needless to say my case is in the post.
Cheers Joe and Liz for a great day
