Wuxi (Chinese: 无锡) is an old city in southern Jiangsu province, China. The city borders two other large cities, Changzhou to the west and Suzhou to the east, and borders Zhejiang Province as well in the south. It also covers a coastline of the Yangtze River in the north and two separate coasts of Lake Tai. Wuxi is well known for being one of the birthplaces of China's modern industry and commerce, as well as the hometown of many important businessmen who have played essential roles in building commerce in Shanghai since the early 20th century.

If you are boring after many days of chinese food, few places are so welcome as Provence steak house.
Quiet and soft ambient, with some room for private dinners, and very agreable staff. English menù, all staff members speak good english and can help you in the choice.
BBQ meet is very good. Pasta and italian style food is not bad but not the best place in Wuxi, in my opinion. Big choice of international wine, especially french.
I suggest to taste the cream of pumpkin soup.

Came just for the Wuxi take on Xiao Long Bao (XLB). Maybe I'm just used to what the Shanghainese define as good XLB, so I find this places disappointing--didn't even finish what we ordered. The XLB skin was thick, whereas Shanghainese seek to have it thin and supple. The XLB contained hardly any soup inside, whereas again the challenge of a tasty XLB is to create a wonderful broth inside that is appreciated only upon eating it whole. Lastly, the meat inside was VERY sweet and did not have the tastiness I seek out at least in Shanghai.
So maybe these differences are purposeful and make Wuxi XLB what it is. But even if so, to my palate they just did not taste that good.

we have been there while an conference in Wuxi. One evening organised in this Resto and we all liked very much.
Good German Beer as usual and especially to mention the huge and tasty buffet we had on this evening....it felt like home in switzerland/germany mid europe with the cold cuts platters, cheese, spicy mustard etc.
if ever going back to wuxi i will drop by again

A real traditional Wuxi restaurant
Staff are some sweet older local ladies.
Very taste and authentic Wuxi dishes.
The "4 fresh bean curd" we had was amazing. Wuxi short ribs are very sweet ( probably too sweet for many ) and tasty. All the small dishes are good, flavorful and authentic !
Sizable portion, short rib can be ordered by pieces. Many small dishes only have 2-3 pieces.
Relatively cheap.
Centrally located.

Went to this restaurant with colleagues after an important meeting. It was a celebration dinner and our friends wanted to take us someplace remarkable.
We were shown to a table with a large lazy Susan in the center, presented with drinks and served gorgeous duck with various side dishes. To finish the meal, the carcass was made into a lovely soup, so nothing was wasted. I was presented with a card with the duck's unique identifier. We were told that they can trace the individual ducks back to the farm where they were raised and each duck is given a number.

Red Lion is a smoke filled, exceedingly noisy and crowded bar that is the perfect anecdote to overly consistent Chinese food joints while in Wuxi. This ex-pat bar is just the place to let loose and enjoy some alternative western grub when you’ve had enough of the local fare. Chinese food is great but can be too much for western stomachs night after night. This is the place to scratch that itch. Recommended. Cheers!

Blue Marlin is a popular place with foreigners and Salsa dancers. During the January and February there is a vacation time, but from March the Salsa dancers are usually back every Wednesday from 8.30 pm. And there are some talents there.
Bar has a great atmosphere, good food (try tuna with black sesame), choice of drinks which are not cheap, and a service which could be improved for the locals. Foreigners are usually catered for with extra care, but locals are not treated the same all the time.
Smoking is a problem, and if they do not solve that problem soon, lots of Westerners will stop coming... like we don't have too much pollution already!

Food taste great, and very friendly and helpful staffs. Can be crowded during the peak hours. Comes with free flow of fruits. The free flow of Plumb/Pear Juice package is worth taking. Not much difference compared to other outlets.
