stopped for lunch here on our way to Ifaty; large grounds, swimming pool, lots of flowering plants/colourful bouganvillea even in winter time (late June); options of sitting inside the restaurant or outside under cover in a courtyard. Service a little slow, food was tasty; I had shrimps with rice, calamari and fries. Large menu. A peaceful oasis from the filth and clutter outside the gates, in Tulear.

This is an excellent restaurant in Toliara with outdoor Seating in the shade of big trees.
The menu is extensive with Indian dishes as well.
The food was very good and nicely presented. A great oasis in this rather big and dusty town
The service was very good and quick.

At first sight it looked like a nice restaurant with outside Seating. It turned out the waiter didn't speak any English, so we had real difficulties ordering, to the extent that we couldn't get any desert, because he just wouldn't understand us. Many things from the menu didn't seem to exist. About the food we have mixed feelings: my shrimps were good, my husband's food rather bad. There was loud karaoke music from next door, which was unpleasant. We were all the time attacked by flies and vendors from the street. Also there were underaged prostitutes sitting with a group of elderly gentlemen at a table nearby. Altogether a negative experience.

Lovely Italian menu. Ordered a local fish filet with sautéed potatoes. Cooked perfectly and served with a lovely sauce – you get to choose the sauce you prefer. We sat outside where there were several expat regulars dining.. There is a small bar inside. We ordered South African wine by the glass. Solid cuisine and nice atmosphere.

Jardin e terasse en plain air
You are in for a unique dining experience at Le Jardin where you are surrounded by plants and Malagasy paintings. The paintings by local artists are for sale; Bursting with colour they jostle for attention on every available wall space and across ceilings; Playful lemurs line the walls to the washrooms and cavort around the doors.
Travelling with a group our meal had been ordered in advance and after Seating we were rewarded with a seafood extravaganza beginning with starters of various seafood carpaccio culminating with a magnificent baked fish. Barely a centimetre to spare after our dining experience, we were also offered desert washed down with a Madagasy shot of rhum.
Every course had more than generous servings. Each dish was beautifully prepared. The wait staff were friendly and efficient.
At the entrance to the restaurant display cases tempted with delicious French pastries and croissants.
If you visit Morondava, treat yourself to a meal at Le Jardin de Giancarlo.

This restaurant is right on the beach, food is sublime! The very varied menu is changed every day on a huge blackboard. Although it wasn't high season the restaurant was always quite busy during our 4 day stay here, word has obviously got around! Between us we ate about a dozen meals here and were never remotely disappointed - oh and they do good cocktails too!
