stumble along this gem by coincidence, the boys love tart and i'd been wanting some fruits! the staffs are very helpful and they do notify you when you're about to order a piece of cake of $30 just to make sure that you're aware (I was about to order their special mango tart, but settle for their second choice for a third of the price :) )
Great drinks selection and amazing tart choices, they do sold out quickly so make sure you arrive before lunch time!

The food here is hearty and would highly recommend the staple dish which is potato gravy over rice. This restaurant is one of 52 stops on the Edo-era Tokkaido and is represented as stop 21 in a series of 52 famous paintings that depict the Tokkaido. When you step inside the restaurant you feel like a pilgrim walking into a banquet hall with other pilgrims. Given the historical significance of this restaurant as well as the reasonably priced cuisine I would highly recommend making a stop here.

Uogashizushi is a rotary sushi chain known for providing excellent material. The location is very convenient. Just across the Shizuoka Terminal Hotel, and at the Shizuoka Parche Building of Shizuoka Station area. The system is a bit hard to grasp for novices like me. If you have enough budget about 1,000 to 1,200 yen range, you can have a nice palatal experience.

Lived in Japan for a couple of years been around most of it so have experienced a lot of cuisine in this country. First visit to Shizuoka and although I was only their briefly the quality of the maguro (tuna) made this short stop a highlight. Cannot state in words how beautiful the fresh maguro was, just devine. Also they had many different cuts on offer making it very interesting to try all parts of the fish. So close to the main station its even worth jumping off the shinkansen if you are just passing through.

Had never heard of a 'hamburg steak' before moving to Japan, but of the many I've since had, this place is amongst the best. Their actual steaks are OK but nothing special, but their main attraction is the Genkotsu Hamburg, and it never disappoints.
The restaurant is always smoky on account of all the hamburgs being charcoal grilled, but that's to be expected.
Usually have to wait a bit, but never too long, and it's always worth it. Have been many times, will go many more.
