We had two delightful lunches at Villa Verdin. The dining room has a wonderful view across the lake in Millstatt and is warm and inviting. The service is a perfect match - friendly and helpful. And the food was delightful. The menu is clearly influenced by Italian cuisine and this provided a refreshing alternative to the often heavier Austrian fare. The wines that were recommended were excellent as is often the case in Austria. We had hoped to stay at Villa Verdin but were unable to do so. If the rooms are as good as the food it would be a wonderful base to enjoy the area.

Kleinsasserhof is both a delightful and eccentric guest house and a very popular restaurant. We stayed there for two nights and ate both breakfast and dinner there.
The breakfasts were outstandingly generous with a wonderful array of fresh foods and cereals. Add to this outstanding cooked eggs and coffee - you could not ask for more.
Our meal on one night was a set menu party and was also generous in the extreme. The menu was focused on the best local cuisine and was wonderful. The other night we ate a la carte and the only reason I have not rated this restaurant as excellent was that I had difficulty choosing a meal that was not too large or too rich. Clearly this is not a problem for the Austrian palate as all the other reviews suggest. Well worth a visit if you want to experience true local cuisine.

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to happen upon Pizzeria Al-Lago (staying across the road in Pension Oberwinkler) and had a great experience. Lovely, warm hostess (Ingrid), great food, reasonable prices and service with a smile. Please support an independent family business, well worth it!

"Austrian and International. Mettnitzer has been awarded with a cap and offers an excellent food combined with a great ambience in a beautiful historical house".
The food is truly high class and of exceptional taste and quality. For this kind of meal, which is quite exceptional, the prices are fairly reasonable. The setting and the interior are fascinating also. Staff is very polite but bit on a "stiff upper lip" side especially when you address them in English, which, on the other hand, they speak quite fluently.
All in all an outstanding dining experience!

A must try. If you are not picky with the ingredients, you really can't go wrong, deliciously baked potatoes will blow your mind. Garlic soup is one of my favourites as well. Highly recommended.

A great pizzeria and always very popular. The Calzone pizzas are huge and crammed full of delicious ingredients. They also have two skittles alleys - great fun after a nice meal with a few bears.

Non Smoking Restaurant from 1.May 2015 Austrian specialities, homemade burgers, desserts, homemade ice cream specialties, daily menu , draught beer, own wine, corporate and family celebrations, cinema from 15 may 2015 lounge area on the first floor
We ordered a burger And cheese burger, takes a bit long but no probs for that. We saw the Cook stressed out running across the restaurant, wich look amaturistic. And get out burgers few minutes later. Breaths where cold inside, and our sauces where already dropped on the plate. (No sauce tips)
Same issue for fries. Wich where fried in salt after oil we guess. To SALT.
Im very sorry to say that my mc donalds meal looks prettyr.
And for the waiters: Pay more attention on your guests, And clothing. A good costume (wich they wear) is worthless if u still wear nike or croccs sandals.. And hung on the bar tipping on you kass while i would like another beer, they could sell a lot more if upselling was used i n a good way.
Afterall the price could higher, if kitchen And waiters Pay more attention on quality.
Focus on What And how u serve And not how many.
Kind regards. Thijs

We found that place walking along the river Promenade, because the terrasse is facing the lake, so nice especially on sunset time.
Franziska is very professional and help on every necessity.
We had variation of fish, all with good taste and the same for the grilled chicken breast complete with vegetables as used in Austria.
The price are a little bit higher compared to other restaurant, but quality and place are good enough to don't care to much to it.

If the weather is good and you are looking for a place to wiggle your toes in clean sand while you sip your favorite drink, then this is your place.
We enjoyed an early evening drink as the sunlight softened and the water sparkled. Outside and inside Seating makes it good for everyone. The outdoor seats were nice, but not extremely comfortable. The blankets helped.
