We are a small, family-run hotel with 16 room on two floors. The house was originally built about 360 years ago as part of a big estate, continuously enhanced over the centuries and during the last decade completely refurbished. The rooms are furnished in a traditional local style, with a lot of wood, light and natural materials to guarantee a cosy feeling during your stay. Despite the long history you won't miss present infrastructure as for example internet access or floor heating in bathroom and toilet. For cold seasons we recommend to use our in house sauna and steam bath, for warm summer evenings you might take the opportunity to dine in our garden. Space to store your skiing equipment, motorbike, bicycle, ... available. Parking lot for cars in front of the house.
I was not generally impressed by the food I ate in provincial Austria, and this place was no exception. Six slices of just thawed, tasteless beef carpaccio is not a great start. Mains were large and filling, but not all inspiring: the batter on the Vienna schnitzel was too greasy, the potatoes oddly either over or under done. Charging 300% more for the same beer that is available in the shop down the road, a bit of an insult to customers. On the plus side, the waitress was very professional and the room, with its darkened portraits and animal heads evocative.

You eat out everyday but then there is an experience that blows your mind away. This restaurant is a hidden gem and truly one of the best food experiences I ever had (and I am very particular about food and good restaurants). The owners are lovely and treat you very well. Flavors are so unique that you can tell that anyone really obsessed with good cooking can go so deep and put so much attention to details. If you are able to eat there once, trust me you are lucky.
Thanks Maria and Josef for making people happy with your cooking. You made that night very special. Would love to be back.

My wife and I walked into town from our hotel near the ski mountain to eat in the castle 2 nights in a row. We had the best veal stew and red cabbage during our whole trip to Austria here. Sitting at the your table it is easy to imagine you are eating in a medieval great hall. If you can don't miss eating here I imagine it would also be very fun for kids to eat here.

In wintertime, this place is just fine to use for a drink and an eat. We stayed across the parking lot at the camping site (with no restaurant) so it was a good location for the evening meal. During the day very busy, in the evening slower paced with some more time for the personnel. Does not distinguish itself for specific dishes, but nothing wrong with it either.

We had Christmas lunch and the food was excellent. the service was good, the food was good, the wine was excellent and we would have given 5 stars but unfortunately we were not warned that the kitchen was closing so we missed dessert.

We chose the 4 course surprise menu. Every dish was accompanied by a matching glass of wine. Unfortunately we visited a bit late in the season and there were no porcini available - what the area is famous for. We also missed a dish from the Forests such as deer, rabbit etc. as part of the menu. But still the place is exceptional and definitely worth a detour.

Had lovely pizzas, nice crust, very tasty toppings. Service was correct but nothing more than that. We had an outside table but had to flee inside with our children since Everyone was smoking on the Terrace. Absolutely disgusting. Obviously this is lack of good Austrian laws not per se this restaurant. The girl serving did appologise at the end which I thought was courteous seing it was hardly her fault.

After recommendations from st martin chalets where we were staying. It didn't disappoint! Service is most friendly and although everything was in German staff tried there best to help out where needed. The manager is always about, serving or taking orders himself. We loved the schnitzel night, great variety of schnitzels all very reasonably priced.
