Visited the town of Mondsee on a tour for The Sound of Music and saw the Basilica during this time. The building extremely beautiful with its bright yellow exterior. Saw it in the midst of the snow which made it even more exciting. Even for those who are not religious, this site holds great historical significance and is bound to be loved by all Sound of Music fans or those who are interested in different kinds of architecture. Would definitely recommend if you fit any of these categories. The inside is also very spacious and has nice statues and ornaments.

We spent a few hours by the Mondsee lake, when we were returning from Hallstatt on a day trip from Salzburg. Has nice restaurants, the lake and the surrounds looked picturesque and the town itself was quaint and nice. We did a boat ride on the lake, and it was fun with music and eats on the 45 minute ride. Overall an enjoyable few hours at Mondsee.

The 9 course offers terrific views of the drachenwand. Pay attwention to hole #4 where a too long shot could send your ball in the close field, whose local farmer and owner seems to be not too friendly to golf players. It goes a lot up and down and at the end of a 18-holes game one might feel the legs pretty weak. This course is just among the many options the Salzkammergut region offers. A wonderful place to play.

"Driving" a Segway is easy and fun. An hour is great, an hour and a half is about as much as I'd recommend. The great advantage of this tour is the tourguide's knowledge of the area. He took us out of the town and through the most breathtaking scenery. We didn't get much explanation except on the technicalities of controlling the Segway, but rather were left to enjoy the beauty of the ride on our own.
Note: the address given on their site is not the place to go. Phone them to book your tour and they will explain where to meet them (near the Promenade at the lakeside).
This was an expensive activity and we thoroughly enjoyed it. However, we would probably have been almost as happy riding rented bicycles in the meadows, provided we knew where to go, and it would have cost a quarter of the price...

The museum entrance is hidden away to the left of the basilica. Initially we thought this was part of the basilica as there was very little advertising. It was only when walking in Almeidapark and we saw the Neolithic canoe did we find out about the museum. I can understand now why there are so few reviews for this attraction.
The museum combines the Neolithic history of the area with the abbey remains and religious artifacts.
There are so many interesting displays to see this review would turn into a museum guide. In short it is a must visit site on any trip to Mondsee and is second only to the basilica as a place of interest.
