Centrally located in Mauterndorf village with sufficient car park for free.
Adults €9, kids 5,5 and under age 6 for free.
Availability of several language audio guides.
A tour to the very well renovated tower is recommended and a guide will explain how the people managed their lives at that time with many original fittings and furnishing. The view from the top is really nice and 360 °.
There was a daily show in August (all summer).
Kids have a large playground on the backside of the courtyard with slides etc.
An old style tavern/restaurant provides food and drinks with an outside Terrace for hot days with a nice view.

Small village with church and house where priest Joseph Mohr lived provides museum side to church where is possible to see the room looking like the one where priest lived, pictures of Joseph Mohr and Xaver Gruber and photos of the original text of the christmas carrol. You can follow the places, where Joseph Mohr served during his priest life. There is also exposition of jewelery of the church. Just don´t expect you can listen there the song. It is also open just two days a week.

A place to just enjoy skiing, it's not an area that attractzs the speed kings who frighten the .... out of the ordinary skier. The slopes range from the easy to the quite challenging, excellently groomed, through a beautiful landscape, with a few mountain bars dotted around. Really a delightful place for a couple of days' skiing as a change (and a break) form the more popular resorts nearby.

My friends and i visited Prebersee-i not for the first time! It's a very lovely country round this lake! There's also a very special shooting-you see the target on the surface of water and try to hit the disc on land.

The CSA Ski and Snowboarding School Silvia Grillitsch has established itself as the quality ski school in Obertauern and is now a professional trend-setter in all snow sports. Our service: ski courses for children and adults, private lessons, snowboarding lessons, cross country, off piste skiing, snow shoe walking, all kind of events, ski tours, airboarding, ice climbing and a lot more.
Our son had 15 students in his no-limits ski group yesterday, the first day of the new skiing week! They promised extra teachers would be added... today (the second day), we hoped things would be solved, as the ski-teacher had promised yesterday afternoon. But... up until lunchtime, he had a group of about 20 to 25 students! Incredible!
We chose this school because of the promise that the ski classes would consist of a maximum of 8 - 10 students...
They definitely cannot handle things in high season.
Quite disappointed. It’s a lot of money for a whole week of day long ski classes...

Burg Finstergrün being just 6 kms from our home is a great weekend 'adventure' for my 3 girls and wonderfully relaxing for myself. The castle being situated in the Mountains, off the main road, yet accessible by both bike and car, is a great location for spending a 'spooky night' in one of the dorms or the family rooms, enjoying good food and great facilities (soccer field, climbing, bbq, hiking, etc.). // The venue is also great for parties or even weddings.

Although it may it look like an ordinary play area, Katschhausen provides you so much additional funn also for the parents. Katschhausen includes a quest for children. You need to answer several (easy) questions to be able find the "bad guy". While searching for the answers kids will have fun on the playground and learn a lot about nature. Just take your time.
Don't forget to ask your free sticker book from the Katschberg tourist office or your hotel. When you completed this sticker book and found the right answer on the main question you will get a special souvenir at the Katschberg tourist office.
Katschhausen also includes a Geocache. Details can be found on geocaching.com. Actually the geocache is based on the same questions as the sticker book, but at the end you will get coordinates to find the cache, at least if you found right answers and calculate the coordinates correctly.
And when you found all answers you can come back the next days just to have fun at the playground.

Just a honest, real old fortrage, together with the local guide, a real must.
Check out the sheep in the yard, under the old draw bridge. Once you call BURLIE, the all answer with a BAA. Could not stop doing this and some of the sheep were horse.
A real unique experiance.

Booked ski hire from here in advance via the 'net for my family - very reasonably priced. On arrival the staff were English speaking and helpful. The equipment is good quality and it wasn't too busy. The only extra cost was insurance which I hadn't counted on but thought was necessary. My son swapped his skis for a snowboard halfway through the week with no problems. On return the staff were again friendly and efficient.

Not the biggest resort and it doesn't have a huge amount of runs but none of that matters when you get there. After years of putting up with French lift queues in a variety of places it was a nice change to walk up to a lift and get on immediately. The lift pass wasn't expensive but that is probably a reflection of how many runs there are. Great apres ski which seems to start around lunchtime and all in all probably one of the best skiing holidays I've ever had. My only regret is finding it so late in my skiing career!
